Loved his honesty in his pre tournament presser.
I didn't care for it. Reckon he came across as a bit self-indulgent. I preferred Paddy Harrington's assessment of Scheffler's comments,

"Just because I love golf doesn't make me a bad father or a bad parent or anything," Harrington said in the video. "I don't have to. They're separate entities. You can enjoy everything there is about golf and still be good elsewhere and do the right things. I just love playing golf."

I didn't care for his actual comments, I think he was very arrogant and very much saying stuff the rest of the world also.

But I liked that he was honest. But he is a religious nut so I expect he will be honest when asked something. Many sportsman, or basically most of them tell you what they want you to hear.

Maybe now that he has won an Open he might not leave America at all?

Great closing round two under front nine when you are four ahead. No one looked like going 10 under to give him a scare and I reckon he could have been two or three better without too much stress.
One thing that might happen is he could end up like a Rory or Brooks Koepka win a few majors in a couple of years look like the second coming then struggle to get over the line again.
If he's motivated he will surely get a slam and get ahead of Koepka in number of majors won in the next few years.

Scottie doesnt care for winning, trophies, fame. Its about family and faith. yes its easy to say when you've won and are the best player in the world. I wonder if he'd walk away from golf tomorrow. I wonder if OJ Farrell feels the same way

That is actually not true is it? If it was true he would not even play in the open. But as that trophy means so much he wants to win it and plays. Now maybe as he has won one now he might stay home in church.

No one since Tiger has had this sort of an edge on the field. Schefflers winning margins in his 16 PGAT stroke victories
Playoff: 2
1 stroke: 3
2: 1
3: 2
4: 4
5: 3

What is he now? 4 majors and maybe 6 or so regular events where he has won after holding a 54 hole lead?

And zero losses.

Only other guy I can think of that had a period like this outside Tiger as well is David Duval. Won all his titles in a 3-4 year window and also a major than as we know fell off a cliff.
jordan spieth 2015 won two majors and top 5'd the other two iirc. then the masters of 2016.

Didn’t he literally say in the press conference how amazing it feels to win, he just alluded to the fact that that feeling only lasts for a few minutes then it sort of disappears and you’re just thinking about the next thing?

Reckon he was just having a bit of a moment.

Not that I’ve won anything anyway really outside of a few cricket grand finals but I sort of get what he means like it’s a solo sport so even allowing for your support crew you are the only person who knows what that feeling is like of feeling the last putt drop, it would be different to that team feeling where you’re celebrating for days afterwards. It might explain why there are so many of these remarkable superstars like your Tigers, Roger/Rafa/Novak, Lance Armstrong (yes obviously he was a cheat but a very driven one), the other big repeat TDF winners like Froome and Indurain and Merckx, Steffi Graf, Serena or whoever - you wonder how much each victory actually means to them in terms of pleasure before they do, as Scheffler alluded to, just more or less, get over it and move onto trying to do it again for that momentary high

Reckon they are all competitive psychos(in a good way) who just live for the win. And, generally, they love the process to get there.

Scheffler, Armstrong, Tiger et al all loved the grind.

Scheffler also seems particularly good at putting his life in compartments.

It is very unlikely to happen, but how good would it be if the captains agreed to send out Rory v Scottie in the singles? First pairing, and they can just go at it.

His Masters was in 15 along with the US Open. The Open win was 17.

None of Scottie's majors involved playing via a car park.
Spieth’s masters run of 2014-2018 was pretty crazy. All top 3 except for 2017. He also won FedEx Cup in 2015.

Scheffler probably will end up with the better career but Tiger comparisons are offensive to Tiger.

Scheffler’s career is already better than Spieth’s. And the way he wins is extremely un-Spieth-like.

Scheffler’s last 4 years are pretty close to Tiger at his best - his last two years especially so. Of course he would need to maintain it for almost another decade to get close to the Cat.
