How far behind is our Club?

With the commencement of the $4.5 million development at Punt Road, this probably is now redundant but ...

I was listening to an interview with Greg Stafford on Sunday. He was asked about what differences he noted between the two clubs.

He pointed out that Richmond was more working class as opposed to Sydney - this is fair enough as we are a 'people' club not one like Sydney who have to spend time sucking up to corporations and sponsors.

He also pointed out about the facilities. From what he was saying, it was a big shock seeing our (apparently) inferior gym, etc after what he was used to at Sydney

Now comparing the various facilities that clubs have at their disposal is pretty hard - I've never seen inside Richmond's gym, let alone any other club.

But by his comments, I got the impression that we were quite a long way behind most of the other clubs - the wealthy ones at least - and this may be holding us back somewhat on success.

On the other hand, having really crap facilities hasn't held the Kangaroos back over the past decade!

Watched Tiger TV last night and it sounds like the boys a pretty excited about the pool there getting. Kingy was all smiles.

Our gym is not as good as the interstate clubs, but is right up there with every Victorian side, maybe Essendon have better facilities but they share theres with the public!

Our new facilities will be the best in Victoria and right up there with the interstate clubs, so thats good news.
