Well thats only the second Freo game ive sat down and watched all of, and all i can say is god they are bloody frustrating. Ive come to this conclusion:
- no confidence
- no set plays
- no real idea
- lack of players with good skills
- lack of forward options
Basically they are just frustrating. They stuff around with the ball so much. They havent changed at all...they still play indirect short football. Handball WAY too much...especially in defence. They came unstuck thru hospital handballs many times. Kickett puts so many teammates under pressure with stupid handballs in defence. Just boot the bloody thing and get it out of danger. The players are too raw and dont have the skills yet to play dangerous footy.
Bandy....he is a shocking footballer. He made so many basic mistakes tonight...my dad counted 8 mistakes. For an AFL footballer to miss 2 shots straight in front of goal 15m out with noone near him is totally unacceptable and he should of been dragged for those mistakes. An AFL footballer shouldnt make mistakes like that. Waterhouse also missed a few easy ones.
If Freo had Bell and Modra, i think they could of been a real chance to win. It was a boring game...no real exciting moments. Freo just tooy oung and too inexpereicned and raw too cause too many headaches. Only players to stand up were Waterhouse, Longmuir (the tall one) and Black...the others didnt do much at all really.
You could almost give that old saying about girls that look good from a far but when you get close they are shockers "Good from a far but far from good"...if you could put that in footy terms you could sum up freo. They have some really good spurts of footy, but then they are just deplorable at times as well.
I think Freo could be good next year if they have the proper pre season. They dont look physically strong enough either.
There are good signs, but there are also bad signs. Im really trying to compliment freo here, cos they did well to keep the margin down, but they went missing again for just a 5 mintue period where adelaide kicked 4 goals inthe last few minutes when freo had very courageously worked its way into a winning position.
I dunno what else to say really.....sabre...im trying here!!
Longmuir did impress in the ruck, kicked 2 really good goals. Schell...he isnt worth the ankle tape really.
If freo can bulk up and get fit then next year they could really shock a few people. Todays result wasnt drums fault.
The freo backmen look nervous, arent really confident in their abilities. Midfield was fair, and forward line was reasonable. Poor Drummy would be tearing his hair out.
I still cant believe Bandy missed those two goals...
Freo did look better than last time i saw them tho (western derby)
oh well...onto next week.
