Broke them after he went to Adelaide, I think he broke them playing for West Adelaide in the SANFL.
The Pres could turn it on when he wanted to, a great talent forgotten

That was Bruce Lindner - I was there. and left early :( missed it - A famous win to the cats at SCG

Dwayne Russell was another 'great white hope' who failed to deliver . Geelong specialised in those type of players for a period.
He did have his moments but was inconsistent and injury plagued if I remember right. (Seems like an eternity ago)

I remember that game well, what a win, it was unusual for Geelong to claw their way back during that period, I was running and jumping around the lounge room like the kiddie I was when the Prez launched that goal.

Remember it vividly, we were at a family barbecue. 27 points down at three quarter time, then Capper kicked a goal at the start of the last quarter. Lindner had been absolutely unsighted before he kicked that goal too, then he dominated.

that's how I remember it too Sttew - very slow, couldn't jump - *could* take a one-on-one contested grab, but not a pack-marking type, nor was he particularly good below the knees - kicking range varied, could thump it on occasion, other times not so much - all in all a nothing to write home about, but yeah, the marking was ok ..
Yeah spot on if he was in front on the lead he was good cause he had huge upper body ,I remember his shoulders were very wide but as said he was slow and couldn't jump ( maybe his knee was stuffed or he was just slow and couldn't jump because of his frame but i do remember him playing some serviceable games at full back )

Dwayne was a key forward when he came over. Unfortunately
For him he was only 6ft1 and not super quick. Was very strong. But in that era he was competing initially
For a spot with Jacko, gazza, billy, stoneham and the pres, Brucey Lindner. Unlike gazza and Bruce who were the same Size or smaller- he didn't have a turn of Speed or a huge leap.
Where Dwayne excelled was at the lyric. He literally
Dominated.
