Hayden Kennedy you piece of shit. This from last week:

And a 180 this week:

Suk a dik Kennedy, you are already looking worse than the Giesh.
Bucks made a point of the inconsistency in his SEN interview. It was almost like Caff had been instructed to treat Cotchin the same as Cloke gets treated every week to try and wedge the AFL/umpires on being inconsistent. How can Cloke only have 1 free-for in 2014 total while Cotchin got 3 paid against Caff? It's a joke.

Caff did a fantastic job. Even when Cotchin was able to get his hands on it, he was dumped in a tackle. I heard he got 5 frees. Out of 13 disposals. Take that every time. No doubt he'll give away a few frees, but I don't think his tactics were as bad as some seem so outraged about (Robbo - its all I've heard him go on about. I expect a similar amount of outrage after Crowley gets hold of Jobe tonight) I think his coralling rather than holding was a real win. I wathced him last week behind the play on Stevie J. He was fantastic at not allowing SJ to get a run at contests. He did it without holding him then too. Like Cotchin, Stevie sooked big time about it, but there wasn't much he could do about it. The umpires were watching, Stevie made sure of that.

I seriously cannot believe the outrage over Friday night! I am honestly astounded. It was nothing different from what players like Crowley do.

That thread on the Richmond board is an embarrassment

But Caff plays for Collingwood:rolleyes:

I reckon we need to be on Crowley watch tonight. In fact I reckon it's worth a designated tagger. There will be stuff to draw from that and to compare to next week.

Don't play Caff next week. He'll be targeted and will be crucified. We can't afford one player to give away 12 frees.

This. It will be Mick Gaffer all over again.

Play Caff on some North Melbourne spud, gives away 12 nothing frees which results in 12 Kangaroos turnovers, media crucifies umpires for their unfair punishment of Macaffer, and he gets away with blue murder on Jobe the following week!

Talk about Caff mania. The AFL site uses stats to a ridiculous degree to prove that Caff is a good player. Surprisingly, the stats man doesnt bother to look at the tagger's own disposal rate or tackle rate to determine whether they are winning the contest.

I remember Western Australians used to pride themselves that Jako beat Wayne Carey on most occasions that they played, based on stats. Talk about BS.

As for Caff, I like the package. He concentrates well and he's a big strong boy.

Would like to see how many km's Caff covers each week, be up there with Pendles I reckon. He plays on the most elite runners week in week out and is rarely left behind. Would also be one of the strongest taggers there has been, he doesn't get bumped out of the way much like Brodie Holland did. His impact only greatens the impact our other midfielders can have, very important.

I remember when a few Essendon were bagging out Caff before Anzac day saying "He isnt close to the best tagger in the game" and that "he has a long way to go till he is on the same level as Heath Hocking and Andrew raines". also something about Hocking influencing the game way more than Macaffer does. Surely they were kidding themselves? i think its safe to say Macaffer is well and truelly a much better tagger than both of them and judging on this years form so far hes number 1 in the league.

I think the scrutiny that Macaffer got for his game against Richmond really shook him. He just wasn't playing as close to his opponents for the next few rounds, and you could see if his eyes that he was worried about free kicks.

Caff needs to just keep going about his business. Every now and then the issue will arise and he'll be scrutinised, but 9 times out of 10 the umps will let taggers go.

If he is shutting down gun opponents, then he is very valuable. However, he is not like a Kane Cornes who can still get 30 disposals and shut down an opponent, so his only hope of staying in the side long term is to tag very hard and beat his opponent.

I am interested long term for Marley Williams to go into the midfield as a tagger. I think he is a bull so will have a greater influence around stoppages, and he is also quick and a great 1 on 1 player.

Cornes isnt a tagger in my opinion, hes a run with player(i think there is a difference) who more than not will find more possesions than his opponant, Cornes will find 30 and his opponent will find 25 which is a great result for a run with player and is what you want from one. Basically does what Nathan Jones did to Marc Murphy this year. Where as a tagger will try keep his opponent disposaless and find about 10-15+ disposals in the process.

Marley would be wasting his talents as a tagger, maybe he wouldnt be a bad option as a run with player but i would rather him a running backman his entire career.

That's fair enough...and I suppose it exemplifies where I'm going with my argument.

Macaffer isn't damaging with ball in hand. He doesn't really kick goals and doesn't win a lot of it. So his only value to the team is to be completely negative and shut down a player. If his form in this area drops, then he doesn't have enough strings in his bow to retain his spot.

On the other hand, a guy like Cornes can tight tag if he needs and has done so many time. But more often than not he runs with an opponent and takes advantage of the lack of respect his opponent gives him.

It depends what player Buckley wants. For now I think Macaffer is doing a wonderful job and we've been screaming out for a tagger for a long time. I just wonder if long term we will want someone in the middle who is a bit more damaging and can hurt his opponent going the other way. I think Marley could tag well, but also win a lot of contested ball and really break his opponents. His speed from contests could be a bonus on the ball. Especially since we have a raft of small to mid-sized defenders like Sinclair, Scharenberg, Oxley and Ramsay who may all long term be fighting for a spot in defence.

And in more bad news for his opponents he is only going to improve go caff

This is only Macaffer's second year in the midfield, so he's got to be given time to learn his craft and how to accumulate more of the ball. I don't see him ever averaging 25+ disposals, but 20~22 should be doable. In terms of being damaging with his disposals I disagree with you. I think he's very good with ball in hand going inside 50, the only issue is that he's not getting it enough times, but he's very good once he gets it. Also it's not like he's stripping the players he tags of 5 disposals every game, it's 10+, sometimes even 15. This is a huge difference, and honestly I think his 15 disposals would be at least as effective as any other players' 15.
