How important is Caff

Taggers are a great idea; MacAffer was a rookie selection and he just shat on a guy who was pick #2 and a club captain.

Obviously you can't play too many though, you still have to win the ball yourself and create opportunities.

Great job Caff!

I was just about to start this thread. From 2010 where he was a fringe player, barely getting a game. He has turned his game completely around.

5th in the b n f last year and I'm tipping him to probably go higher this year. He's not that far behind Crowley as the best tagger in the game IMO

Continues to surprise me with his tagging work, I've always believed that Caff could become that big bodied mid that we seem to be missing but he never found enough of the ball, but now that his tag is taking him to the ball he is flourishing. Look forward to see him add a bit more of an attacking game.

Important enough that he will have the job on Harvey next week and shut him down.

He is clearly best 22 now with the role he has been given to play and he is playing that role really well.

Really? Harvey? The most tagworthy player in that team is 30 1000? Should be easy win then :thumbsu:

Was the third best tagger last year.

How important is Caff?

Very:D

I really hoped he would take to the role as he has all the attributes.

Quick enough, very good tank, skilled, and great application after the ACL showed him that a career is a blessing not a right.

Amazingly we've gone from no tagger to arguably the best in the AFL. He's making himself one of the first picked, and you can't pay too many higher compliments than that.

You know a Collingwood player is good if opposition fans, coaches and the media are whinging about him, which everyone is.

Can't wait to see Caff vs Ablett.

Macaffer is Elite, obviously rated less than an Elite midfielder is but thats the tagger life and as far as other taggers go hes squeezing the gap between him and Crowley, clear number 2 in the league and possibly the future number 1. Caff is basically shutting down All Australians week by week.

His only problem would be Ablett's explosive pace IMO.
Crowley's not super fast either and he has restricted him in the past. Not expecting Caff to keep him under 20, maybe even 30 possessions, just to restrict him enough to give us a chance.

He's only going to get better in this role too!.. he can be very dangerous around goals and I can see him hurting his opponent on the scoreboard more often in future.

At one stage last night I stopped watching the game and followed Caff instead. He owned Cotchin. It was such a powerful demonstration of a single minded focus to prevent a key opposition threat from eventuating.

How important? Automatic selection now.

Did you guys think that all that manhandling was fair?
I have no issues with tagging but McCaffer got away with a lot of holding that could have easily gone against him.

It's not about the individual but about the game.
He got away for it and it may just have been deemed to have been fair, but god, it's ugly.
