How is Ben Cousins' book?

Read the Cousins book and now almost thru the Wayne Carey book.

Both books make for good reading. Cousins comes off more as a bit of a lad....from a good family and most of what he did really only harmed himself.

Carey however comes off as more of a beer swilling bogan who liked to fight....tough upbringing (awful in fact) that played itself out in his later life. His actions also hurt others and he was in denial about this fact for a long time.

LMFAO
I havn't read either books but i'm going to soon. They both sound interesting. Carey was kind of before my time. I only remember him playing for the Crows after the whole sleeping with his team mates gf saga and by than he was already past his prime.

I've recently gotten through a few biographies of footballers:

Great books:
Carey
Cousins

Good books:
Schwartz
Aker

Bad books:
Brad Johnson
Richo

Currently reading a book about Alistair Lynch.

I agree 100% with your opinions on Carey, Cousins, Schwarz and Johnson books. I haven't read Aker or Richo's books, though.

Currently reading Ron Barassi's book. I'm up to the final quarter, during his time in the early 80s when he went back to Junction Oval. Pretty good book with some cool insights.

Of the AFL biographies I have read, I'd rate them:
1) Carey
2) Cousins
3) Schwarz
4) Crawford
5) Barassi
6) McLeod
7) Ramanauskas
8) Johnson

It's easy to see what differentiates the great/good books from the bad. Carey and Cousins both had controversial moments in their careers particularly off-field. Schwartz had a gambling problem so he's another one with off-field issues. Than Aker is just the type of person who has a punchable face so he's bound to get into arguments and have confrontations wherever he goes. As for Johnson and Richo their both like heroes of their respective clubs, in which both clubs failed to generate much success during their tenures.
I don't think Lynch's book would be that good. Although it would be kind of interesting to hear him talk about how he dealt with chronic fatigue syndrome and the whole steroids thing, which he got caught up with.

I got confused in the Heaven opening section. He was talking about 2005 then saying how he won a premiership cup which was in 2006? Can anyone fill be in.

I found some errors regarding WC but it wasn't too bad. Overall the book was rather good.

7/10.
