Tom is going well from what I hear and I wish him all the very best for 2005, can't wait to see him on the park. It is on the field that counts.

For someone who has played 1 quarter in 2 years. He is the most overrated player in history.

Best quarter on debut I have seen in a long long time, admittedlty aginst poor opposition but I liked the way he moved. He's not overrated but we do have high expectations of him. Could become a great third tall target in the forward line. Could also bomb out but he's got more potential than Rowe, Hall, Morrison and Walker put together.

Well, if he isn't as Greggy said, the most "overrated player in history", he is now definitely has the most overhyped potential of any player in history!!

Lee Walker, Alan Edwards, Gary Shaw, Peter Eakin, Ricky Olerenshaw, Barry Mitchell, Graeme Teasdale, Danny Roach, its a big list.

Young Tommy's in elite company!!

Bit young to lump him in with that lot

Overhyped more than over rated. I must admit I did get a bit excited when I saw him v the Dogs. About as excited as when I saw Walkers debut v Port. Seriously Walker looked bloody good. Tom wasn't as good but pretty promising. The reality is even if he never does another knee he will never have the same athleticism he would otherwise have had. Edwards didn't, Schwartz didn't. I doubt any multiple reco player did - especially a KPP. Lica does alright but he’s hardly athletic. If Davidson can get strong and take contested marks he could have a future but outside of that he is never going to set the world on fire IMO. Ability or not every game is another wearing of the knees from here on in. He'd want to have more than athleticism to fall back on and he'd want to achieve plenty before he reaches 28. To that end he'd better train right, eat right and drink right for the next 7 years.

Anyway, IF Davidson comes good we'll have a pretty good forward set up. It's a big IF right now though.

I think medical procedures have come a long way since the players you mentioned had reco's Mark.

Instead of removing the ligament completely as they did back then, they now replace it or add to it.
The effect you talk about only seems to last for a season or so now and after that the player is as good as he was prior to the reco.
