I'm getting sick of first person shooters all together. Battlefield, COD, Halo - they're all pretty much the same when it comes down to it.

Miniscule differences between them.

Well, except TF2.

I find it odd that people spend so long arguing over which Very Similar Shooter Copy and Paste is better, as though there are large chasms separating them.

This is the most definitive thing I can think of to tell you how the 'feel' is genuinely different. This is using as indisputable proof as I can find.

Or read this:
IS THIS NOT BECAUSE OF THE FRAMERATE? YES OR NO?

Good article.

You omitted that previous CoD title have been tested up to 83ms latency.

83ms v 116ms. Big deal.

Framerate is used in the test as a unit of measurement to ascertain the input lag.

I like the bit at the end when they test BF3 on a big $$$ PC with the FPS at 60fps and the input lag does not change from the xbox 360 result of 116ms even though it is running double the frames.

So to answer you question:

"IS THIS NOT BECAUSE OF THE FRAMERATE?"

The answer obviously is no. As proven by eurogamer.net.

So you are confirming that in fact, categorically, COD does and always has felt better than Battlefield. Nothing to do with 'character movement' or 'inertia'. Thanks for re-affirming the points myself, Camo and Jordz were getting across (sorry Freakie:o).:thumbsu:

BTW it wasn't an 'omission' it was showing the tests of the latest COD (which everyone is playing and generally what they'd be comparing their comments to) to the latest BF. That's how you do comparisons...use the latest possible tech to compare.

That's not what they say at all.

Read again:
"For example, input lag, even on a high-end PC, wasn't hugely improved over what we saw on Xbox 360" (NO MENTION OF FRAMERATE)

"unless we disabled v-sync and ran the game well in excess of 60FPS"

They're not saying they ran it at 60fps and it was the same, you're completely twisting their words. Although once again, they are saying it's improved, so you can even assume with the better framerate, that's improving input lag.

I laugh at the fact that you think framerate and input lag has no correlation. Do you really think the two don't work in sync with each other?

Let's use another comment by your favourite website eurogamer.net, since you clearly agree with their articles:
DICE's approach on console is remarkably different. While dropping down to 30 frames per second obviously impacts input lag, doubling the available rendering time opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
Obviously the answer is no...apologies.:o:o:o

i'd def get that.

they just have to work out how to get concrete rubble and broken down cars into the middle of their spacestation maps though :o

Don't forget the helicopter conveniently crashed in the middle of the map.

lol yeh

i'm actually watching a clip of you playing blops right now going 100-27 on grid and you mention what i'm feeling.....

i'll probs still play mw3 a lil bit but i'm so over it and it's over the top lag compensation.
i'm definitely going to buy blops again after watching this clip even if i play it only a tiny bit i still want it in my collection regardless.

not only that but it's pretty obvious before black ops 2 (or whatever they end up calling it) there will be blops bigfooty parties for the month prior so i'll be able to join in on that as well :thumbsu:

Easy, there'll be some major event at the space station and crash that onto the "moon map" plenty of rubble and space stations to avoid on the moon ya know ;)

I love my COD and i don't care what anyone thinks. I tell myself i won't buy Treyarch's version, but i will, i just know it.

But i am looking forward to see what Respawn are up to

This is what they're doing:

Looks fantastic!:thumbsu:

(That is not at all fake btw, true teaser - they have another of a few men standing around in mo-cap suits - again FANTASTIC!)

I havent got MW3, all this talk about lag comp has turned me off. They really need dedicated servers.

If the next COD has dedicated servers i will buy it, If not then no.

What I cant work out is that if Battlefield was so awesome then why are people spending their time trying to convince others (and most probably themselves) that Battlefield is better

On the most part the COD community are happy playing and discussing COD and most of us are apathetic towards Battlefield and it's community (ie we just simply dont care and have little interest). On the flip side however, the Bttlefield fans seem to have nothing better to do than to enter into COD discussions and feel the need to try bag the COD series and go on a rant about how Battlefield is supposedly better.

I can only guess that most of the COD obsession from Battlefield fans might come from former COD players who feel insecure in their decision to jump on Battlefield's bandwagon.

Well, there's still the odd laggy game where there's obvious frame rate loss and so on, but I'm enjoying it.

Good on you for watching it, might do another one now. ;)

have a look at my Blops game plays for demo got 101 - 10 on WMD and, 114 - 40 something see if there youtube worthy..

Battlefield is by far the better game you only have too compare the 2 threads on bigfooty too see why, COD thread full of everyone pissing and moaning about how bad the lag is and posters saying their over it and heading back too blackops.
Jump on the BF3 thread and you dont see much whinging going on at all if anything most BF3 players are quiet happy with the game and are far from being over it and if you havnt realised most of the bagging for COD comes from your very own community most of the BF3 fans are just sitting from a distance laughing at the blinded COD fanbois..:o

The console COD fans, while they complain about the game, know that there is currently no real alternative and most would take a slightly flawed COD game over any of the alternatives.

The thing to keep in mind is that Battlefield is a different experience on the PC (it is essentially built from the ground up as a PC game), but as far as consoles go the console gimped Battlefield games just doesnt grab me and for me they dont quite translate as well on console as they do on PC. Whereas COD seems to be far more suited to consoles and console players and while COD is also on PC, the game is engineered primary as a console game. I actually tried to get into BC2 and also downloaded the BF3 demo, but the reality is that it is not COD and after I gave it a try I went straight back to playing COD.

I would also debate your point about Battlefield fans sitting back, on most video game fourms all I seem to see is Battlefield fans posting in COD threads bragging about how Battlefield is better. Each to their own, but until there is something out there on consoles that actually rivals the COD experience people will still remain loyal to the COD franchise and the reality is that while we complain about COD and the hit detection and lag we still are all here playing COD dont care one iota about Battlefield.

Of course it does, can't really bag something you don't play

Yet even for the bitching and moaning, they still continue to play it. An average COD on console is still better than any other shooter on the market currently

cod and battlefield are the same game

1 - look down sights
2 - shoot mans
3 - repeat

I have this unique talent where i can beast at both CoD & BF saving me the hassle of being a fanboy to only 1 series, both games can co-exist quite easily.

BF3 is technically superior but at the moment im in the fast paced, close quarters, gun carnage mood that CoD caters too.

I see Battlefield as an investment, CoD is just when you need a quick fps fix
