Playing the wrong rookies is one of the most frustrating things about the first few weeks of dream team. Every week the guy on you bench just smashes it while you've got some spud on the field scraping to 40. If you swap them the following week they always seem to revese their scores . Anyway so I tallied up all the points I've lost and it's looking pretty ordinary so far:

Round 1: 78 points lost to the bench
K.Mitchell (24) over Wines (99) = 75 points
MacCaffer (50) over Neade (53) = 3 points

Round 2: 118 points
Hartlett (35) over Heath (74) = 39 points
Viney (59) over O'Maera (104) = 45 points:mad:
Varcoe (56) over Dwyer (90) = 34 points

Round 3: 119 points
Stevenson (40) over Terlich (75) = 35 points
Pittard (28) over Heath (49) = 21 points
Varcoe (12) over Neade (62) = 50 points
O'Maera (54) over Anderson (67) = 13 points

So all up I've lost 315 points so far and 105 points on average each round:mad:

How does your team compare?

Round 1: 1 lost to the bench :D
Zorko (52) instead of Neade (53) 1pt (Emergency)
I should like to point out that I still had Watts in my team, but my bench players still registered 0

Round 2: 69 lost to the bench
Karnezis (9) instead of Neade (75) 66pts (Emergency)
Varcoe (56) instead of Rowe (59) 3pts

Round 3: 77 lost to the bench
O'Meara (54) instead of Stevens (64) 10pts (Emergency)
Varcoe (12) instead of Neade (62) 50pts (Emergency)
Zorko (51) instead of Rowe (68) 17pts

Only avg a loss of 49 thus far, however I never realised how much I actually hate poor Neade... For round 4, he'll be my emergency once again. The kid just can't seem to catch a break!

Its actually a good thing to have a "lot" of points on your bench wasting away because

1) Your whole team is playing, rather then having a team with no choices because you have non-playing rookies such as for example my team, the last few weeks with Docherty, Tom Lee etc... on the bench rather then a Dwyer or Neade.

2) A lot of the time its going to be plain variance as to which 2 of O'Meara, Wines, Viney or Whitfield for example are going to have the best score for the round, so its not exactly a mistake to play Player X who scores 50 over Player Y who made 75, particularly if Y overperformed expectations etc....

3) Lots of other people are going to make the same "mistakes". Obviously it sucks when I play Whitfield for his 37 and 36 but not for his 102 but what can you do, others probably did it as well.

Just like the "Immediate Trade Impact" thread, its kind of cool to look at but not super important to overall position.

*As an aside, the ITI thread most people use 0 as a base score to evaluate a trade which is obviously horrible if you are making consistently point losing trades, with initial trades really should look at ~40 points a game depending on the type of trade, mainly rookie to rookie.

the significant presence of the ball in Melborune's defence has meant Terlich has earned himself a spot in the 22, Stevenson is being retired to the bench perhaps permanently

I think I have you all well and truly covered with my fail(s) :)

Round 1: 96 points lost to the bench
Greene (37) over Viney (86) = 49 points
Embley (41) over MJones (69) = 28 points
Dwyer (34) over Neade (53) = 19 points

Round 2: 163 points
Stevenson (71) over Heath (74) = 3 points
Viney (59) over O'Meara (104) = 45 points
A Goodes (41) over Neade (75) = 34 points
Karnezis (9) over Dwyer (90) = 81 points

Round 3: 87 points
Pittard (28) over Heath (49) = 21 points
Embley (48) over Viney (63) = 15 points
Liberatore (46) over NJones (86) = 40 points
Dwyer (51) over Neade (62) = 11 points

So all up I've lost 417 points so far and 139 points on average each round

It's a rather moot point since half the time it was my premo's & mid pricers getting out scored by bench rookies and I was never going to start those rooks over premos* and mid-pricers anyway....BUT for the purpose of this thread (what if) ...had I selected the rookies on my bench (as far as the above scores go) I would currently be ranked 882 instead of 33,449 FMDTL :(

Round 1: 112 lost to the bench
Jacobs (31) instead of Stevenson (74) -40pts
Gibson (64) instead of Jones (69) -5pts
Danger (51) instead of Viney (86) -35pts
Robinson (21) instead of Neade (53) -32pts

Round 2: 179 lost to the bench
Karnezis (9) instead of Neade (75) -66pts
Harper (29) instead of Rowe (59) -30pts
Viney (59) instead of O'Meara (104) -45pts
Jacobs (25) instead of Terlich (56) -31pts
Stevenson (71) instead of Pittard (78) -7pts

Round 3: 78 lost to the bench
Pittard (28) instead of Heath (49) -21pts
Stevenson (40) instead of Terlich (75) -35pts
O'Meara (54) instead of Viney (63) -9pts
Gibson (73) instead of Jones (86) -13pts

Total damage 369 (avg 123 per round).

At least last week things started to get better after I got rid of a few spuds :p

People seriously counting the likes of Hartlett, A.Goodes and Dangerfield? You haven't really lost points in playing these guys over rookies because that was never an option to begin with - however a 50/50 choice between Neade/Macaffer or Viney/O'Meara is an example.

Sorry for the negativity but adding it to your 'score' isn't really calculating what you could've got.

Completely agree,

Calculate lost points on 50/50 calls only imo.

Saying you lost points by playing Zorko instead of Neade is completely unrealistic.
