The apartment next door to me is vacant and up for sale.

Presumably either the real estate agent, a tradie or a cleaner has come in to do some work and left the place unlocked.

I rang up the real estate agency listed on the advertising board out front last weekend and informed them that the door was left open and I couldn't pull it shut for them as I had tried but you need the key to lock it.

I get home this weekend and the door is still wide open.

Evidently not a shit was given by the real estate company. The police were not interested either.

If I had a ~300k investment I would not be impressed with the place being left wide open for vandals, squatters, whatever to amble in and trash the place.

So how do I find out and contact the owner? Or should I just not give a shit either?

We've gone through local council to get similar info. That was for a vacant block as we wanted access to it to "trim" some trees. They had no issues telling us who owned the block.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I just get blocked everywhere by privacy, no one will give out contact details or even ring the owner themselves and let them know. What a load of crap and complete lack of common sense.

I would be absolutely seething if it was my property.

Where I live apartment blocks normally have a number to the care taker or even the owner of the flats, so maybe you ve seen something like that in the first floor?
