How to read form

I'm off to the local races tommorow and in the forum book it lists the horses last 3 runs with the results. No worries i got that bit under control but when it tells you where the race was and it will say like CL1 or CL3 or something like that. I assume that means class 1 or class 3 so which way do the classes run? Is class 1 the highest through to 6 or is it the other way around?

Class 1 is lower and it goes through to class 6 which is higher and here in SA you then move on to 0,1 or 2 metro win in last year etc etc, finally you have open class. The lowest class is maiden which is horses yet to win a race.

Thanks mate, i have always managed to pick at least 2 winners for the day in previous years. Now that i actually have a bit of an idea i will probably bomb out completely

Reminds me of going to the races with my Mrs. Had one going for about $8K in the last leg of the quaddie one day and it got knocked off on the line by a beast paying $60 and to make matters worse had to put up with her jumping up and down cos she had $1 e/w on the winner as it "had a nice name"
