Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
If the ball is bouncing then trying to bump the opponent shouldn't end up in a spoil. You should probably just try to kick it through in that case if you can.
At the moment you can't use the right stick to bump in the marking contest, which could act as a shepherd. That is coming in the patch dude!
This. Will make it possible to shepherd the ball through for a goal as well as making marking contests more interesting.

It will also make the game even worse for online.Yeah it sucks when you kick at goal and the defender can punch away easily on the line. Ability to bump in the marking contest will make things far more interesting![]()

I can foresee this game becoming a shepherd-fest. That's what I was alluding to.Depends on if there a free kick for too early in the marking contest.
We will see. There needs to be a balance. At the moment if there is a marking contest where the players are side by side, 9/10 times the spoil will win if the player chooses to spoil.
Is this unrealistic though? The vast majority of contested marks in modern-day AFL are taken on the move, with an opponent trying to spoil from behind. If players are side-by-side, it's much easier to spoil, and the spoiler will almost always win. That's why it's bad to kick it high on top of your forward's head (unless it's a pack and you've got crummers), and better to hit them on the chest.
It SHOULD be difficult to take a side-by-side mark.
As I've said before, most of the people on here have issues if they can't do everything they want to do every time but when they do it consistently, they complain that it's too easy.Spot on, and also when you have a Riewoldt/Brown/Cloke type they tend to win most of their side-by-side contests anyway, so atm I reckon the game is perfect in this area. The problem I see is they are making legend harder, which is necessary, but introducing things like this could negate any increases in difficulty.
