Any thoughts on just how good this kid could be in 2010 given he has beefed up and would have had the ability learn more about game play and structures.

yes put him in your DT/SC!

He's gone from 83kg to 91kg (if Wikipedia & Melbournefc.com.au are anything to go by), & hopefully that won't do anything to his speed, agility & leap.

With a clean bill of health & going by his form last year he could play all 22 games. Could probably kick 30 goals if left uncheck but though you'd imagine opposition defences will be aiming to keep him out of the game & now that Robbo's gone he'll be on every list. So I'd say 22 games, 20 goals, unless the opposition want to let him roam free, then 30 goals.

He kicked 20 goals in 9 games last year! If he plays 22 then I'd say he'd kick 30 at a minimum. Even with the best defender on him, if we get the ball forward quickly enough he will have the magic to bag 1 goal a game even on an off day.

Have done so already ;)

Agree with the extra attention from defenders, having watched a few games including his first I reckon he has enough footy smarts to beat most of them though. He has second and third efforts that will keep defenders on their toes.

Just appears so bloody natural at finding the pill and having it on a string.

Last year no-one knew what he was capable of. The other coaches now know what he's going to do if he gets the ball, I expect they'll clamp down on him & he will have a couple of games where he's completely shut out. One goal a game for 22 games would be good enough for me because chances are they'll be hard to come by. I would say at the minimum he'll kick 20.

Opposition teams aren't ******ed. By the last few games of the year everyone knew what he was capable of and he was drawing much more attention.

He still kicked goals with ease.

I would actually rate the round 22 performance against St. Kilda as his best.

agree W=L, he just got better and better, and that was without a preseason. if he plays 22 games could easily kick 50-60 goals

Once the midfield starts picking him out as the main target up forward he'll rack em up.

His speccys and freak goals were 1 thing, but the way he just stuck his mit out for that 1 hander in the St Kilda game says his going to be very very special

If Jurrah plays 22 games IMO 30 goals would be a lean result. Even with increased defensive pressure he’s going to be tough to match up on!

He needs a smaller running player to go with him across the ground, but because of his height the bigger bodies will have to play on him, admittedly one on one they will push him under the ball but his vertical leap means he’s never out of it!

With Robbo out of the side it will just mean there is more opportunity.:D

Any stats out there on his vertical leap compared to others?

Its not somuch stats (although im sure theyre very impressive), its timing of the leap, to catch the ball at its highest point.

Jurrah is just naturally gifted like that.

W=L post those youtube clips again from the Jurrah vs Richmonds list thread :D

Of course by the end of the year they had an idea of what they were dealing with, as much as nine games can tell you anyway, but when he when first started playing nobody knew how he would go. Now they have an idea he will be watched closely, they're not going to give him any room to move next year because they know what he'll do if he gets the ball.

Hope they are watching closely, LJ deserves nothing less, not toomany players are going to be able to match up on him, hes got incredible ariel skills, when all he needs is 1 hand to pull in marks hes going to be pretty hard to stop, some of the stuff he did last year was Ablett SNR standard, pretty sure he got watched closely by opposition teams as well didnt stop him dominating ;)

Rewatching those highlights from last year (thanks W=L), main thing i noticed was that even though he was so good, he was blowing pretty hard after his marks/runs through the middle he will be a great deal fitter this year thanks to actually having a preseason.

Cant beleive he only first wore a pair of footy boots 4 yrs ago. Still early in his career of course but i havent been this excited about a player since David Schwartz in 1994 :thumbsu:

Every team next year will have a "Stop Jurrah" plan in place & rightfully so. He's got everything needed to play successfully at AFL level. With all his freakish skills & attributes he will be one of the dominant players in the competition, I just don't expect him to reach that level in his second year.

I can see what your saying sides will put more time into stopping jurrah as he will be very important for us kicking a winning score this year. However their is a big difference between planing and action (what actually happens).

I know jurrah can sit on my head, pluck the ball from in front of my eyes and kick goals lying on the ground but can i actually stop him? Some times players are just to good, yes every oppostion player will go out there with a plan to stop him, but can they physcially do it?

He is certainly one player worth watching a non Essendon game just to see how he takes them on. :thumbsu:

Natural flair and tenacity at the ball are rarely found together.

He kicked 4 in the intra club and if his team mates can't stop/ are not aware of him then I doubt others will!

He's not going to win the coalman but sometime some player are contained by damage limitation. That will be the stip Jurrah plan.

They did put Rohan Bail on him, which I think was more for Bail's benefit than giving Jurrah a tough match up. Frawley, or cross fingers a healthy Colin Garland would be a tougher match up.

Go back a read a training report from Januray I think it was and you will find that Frawley couldn't contain him at all.

If he plays every game 40 goals would be a minimum expectation. He will be the main target up there this year, yes he may have a bit more pressure on him, but teams were certainly aware of his talent last year and he still managed to kick 4 against one of the best defensive teams ever and even had to be dragged as he was almost winning the game:o.

Now that he's had more of a pre-season he should only get better. You can't teach natural talent
