How's Jacko going

Jackson was used in too much of an attacking role for mine last year. I don't want the ball in hands as much as possible, I want it in guys like Lids, Cotchin, Martin, etc. In fact he would be one of the last guys you'd want racking up the disposals on the outside of the packs. He was in the top 2 or 3 for overall kicks for us last year, maybe even lead IIRC. With his big body (92kg), running capability and defensive attributes he should go back to full time tagging to play an effective role in the side IMO.

Probably following company orders of "kick it long".
If he goes back to being a tagger, can we go without a stronger inside mid (ie Tuck out)? ATM moment, marginal. But with Foley (if / when he plays) and Edwards in the mid, no. We would lack physical strength to really contest. Conca and Helbig with another 7 or so kg (which they should gain in 2 or 3 years) would really make a difference tho!

If Grigg can perform as a tagger but with more composure and skill than Jacko then Jacko will struggle to get games. I hope Tuck struggles to get games too

Although Grigg performed this role at Carlton, he's more suited to an outside role. Tends to hurries his kicks too much and turns the ball over when there is pressure on him.

On Jacko, I didn't realise he was injured. Seems to do a pretty good job on Judd when our two teams meet.

still need a couple of big mature hardened bodies in the center to bang up the opposition's skilled players as well...
...even the doggies surround their rolls royce...cooney...with hard nuts in boyd, cross, morris and ward to name a few...
...only have to recall the 05 and 06 grannys...cousins, judd, kerr, embley all skilled players and they could only win one granny against a tough unit like sydney

and west coast were a prime example of a midfield who would add the hard bodies in there with the "rolls royce" not only did cuz do alot of work to help get judd and kerr the footy blokes like stenglein and chick were priceless in looking after the more outside players, Judd is an exceptional player i hate him but i dont think ive seen a bloke transfer from a rolls royce outside running gun to an inside bulk contested ball winner aswell as he has, obviously his disposal suffers for it and id argue his lost a bit of zip but to transform your game like that is nothing short of incredible. Jacko is in our 22 everyday of the week twice on sundays

The article on the RFC website about this weeks squads mentions that the game will somehow be shown to supporters, if so I'll keep a close on eye on him and do a write up his thread.

I personally think he's best 22, and is vital to our midfield and taking the pressure off the younger blokes and better ball users. The games last year he missed I'd take note straight up of the opposition's best midfielder and the increased impact they had in Jackson's absence. Need him to stay on the park this year.
