I saw him play last year and this year. He's not moving as well this year bacause he has a bout of OP. It's become trendy to describe him as slow but even with the osteitis pubis he is playing seniors effectively with Central Districts. For a an accurate speed around the ground think Jordan Lewis (who was also thought to be slow, but it doesn't seem to have hurt his transition) More importantly can he find the footy, yes, can he win his own ball, yes, can he hurt you with his foot skills, yes, with passes over 60 meters a feature, bottom line, can play.

Is he as fast as Bartel?

Given that 3 midfield options are available to us, Hurn, Ellis and Varcoe,

does Ellis put his head over the ball or is he a receiver?

Varco is supposed to be fast and skilled, how good is he and is he a receiver or can he get his own ball as well?

The good thing about Hurn is that he is not a one position player. For most of the year he has been playing half back for centrals in the SANFL. He has also had a pinch hit in the forward line and has stints on the ball. He loves it in the clinches. I don't think his pace is of any concern. Just look at the career Robert Harvey has had.

As for Travis Varcoe, he is a very fast, silky midfielder with excellent skills. i couldn't tell you whether he is a reciever or inside player as i haven't seen enough of his as of yet due to him being injured for the majority of the season.

Wiz ranks him #1. Granted Wiz's track record has its misses, but I haven't seen him miss a #1 yet (unless you call preferring Hodge over Judd a "miss").

Presuming we take Ellis, I'd rather us keep our Pick 5 and have a chance at Hurn than take Bartel. Bartel isn't quick and he isn't a bull either. He's a bit of a taller version of Wowoedin! Hurn sounds like he's in the Riccuito type mould and can bust packs.

No, Bartel is Woewodin with a brain and a heart.

I see Bartel more like a young Licuria that can kick.

I personally think he's a tad over-rated. Seen him play around four times (once against blokes his own age) and never really stood out. I think the fact that he played league footy so young, has got a lot of people excited, but since his league debut he hasn't done much.

Lica woulnd't have played such a limp wristed final as on last Friday.
Due respect to Lica but his two GF's were nothing to write home about. Not limp wristed granted but maybe in accordance with his overall talent.

Hurn had a pretty good game today in the 2nd Semi final. Played across half back and had a stint up forward. Took some strong contested marks and did some tough things. Will be a much much etc better prospect than Billy Morrison.
