According to Burgan, the following things become clear:

1) Hurn won't go top 3, as both Collingwood and Hawthorn have bigger fish to fry.

2) Carlton are seriously considering Hurn at pick 4.

3) The general view is that we want a tall at pick 4. (A bit each way I guess)

I don't think we'd overlook Hurn for sloppy seconds though. Kennedy is probably our man, if that fails (and I hope it does ;) ), we'll snap up Hurn.

I seriously doubt we'd take a tall just because we want one. He has to be a bloody good player.

Ryder, Kennedy, Dowler and Clarke will be bloody good players so they aren't sloppy seconds.

If Hughes lasts to 20, HAT!

I think Thornton is better suited to CHB or the HBF depending on opponents, but we are crying out for someone like Lucy at CHB.

I think you overate draft picks. Have a look at last year's top 20, and the year before that. Only a hadnful or draftees become "bloody good players". To assume that all those players will be successful is ignorant on your behalf.

If we go for a tall, it has to be the best there is (Kennedy), otherwise we should stick with the best available policy.

Agreed. Lucy would be a great acquisition. Fingers crossed he last to pick 20.

What aspect of Burgan having Hurn slide until 16 makes you think we are seriously considering Hurn at 4? If anything it indicates NO ONE is seriously considering Hurn.

From what I have seen and read I personally would prefer Shannon Hurn. I only saw the under 18 championships on fox so that is all I can really comment on but Shannon Hurn looked absolutely awesome. Strong hands, great kick, good vision and unbelievable leadership. You could see he had an amazing presence on the ground. Those are leadership skills I haven't seen since a player like Kernahan was directing traffic. Even better he is a Carlton supporter so he'd be happy to play for us. Anyway, doesn't matter who we draft, all I know is that my premature ejaculation will start on Saturday morning.

Thankfully we have Hughes and not any of us doing the drafting!

Kennedy is a gun, is the best KPP in the draft. He will be sensational for us for a long time. Powerful 195cm well built CHF who know exactly how to play that position don't come around very often. He works harder than most and is mobile and agile enough. Great pack marker and very good kick. What more do you want from our no.4?

Bower is a great pick-up at 20. Not many here rated him for very long. He always sounded promising and is 193cm and around 89kg I think. He wants to be a key defender at either CHB or FB, he has played both of those positions regularly and knows how to go about his business down back. Better than Spangher, Obst, Lucy, Grima, etc. That far ahead of them it doesnt even matter.

Edwards is going to be interesting, very happy with this pick up. Already 192cm and could grow some more. Plays CHF and CHB and could develop into anything. Would have loved Swallow here, cant believe he lasted to 43, but am very happy with Edwards thats for sure.

Lucy went late and thankfully we didn't bite on him. Carlile is a better player at FB,have said that before and he went earlier than Lucy did. Some good players left for the rookie draft, hopefully we take a couple of good midfielders with skill.
