What would be more beneficial for Freo.
To finish 3rd or 4th and get the double chance and play in Brisbane or Adelaide

or finish 5th or 6th and play at home to play a 1st week loser in the finals

It all depends on the MCC agreement.

If we were to finish top 4 and get the double chance then that would be great. However if we did lose and had to play a "home" semifinal in Melbourne that would be crap.

With that being said I don't care where we finish in the 8 as long as we get there. The last 8 years have taught me to enjoy the good times while you can and if we finish anywhere in the 8 I'll be on the first plane over to watch the game live.

The MCG contract won't come into play this year for the semi's because they have a banking system where they have to play 6 finals in Melbourne over 3 years (in Rounds 1 and 2).

Top 4 definitely. Imagine if we somehow pulled off a win, we would get to host a prelim final if we finished 4th and beat 1st. And even if we lost, get a home semi.

Same agreement was in place last year. Didn't help Adelaide because there were no games 'banked', and the AFL wasn't willing to go into 'game debt'.

Following that policy, unless there are 2 games at the G in the first week of the finals, there will definately be one there in week 2.

Having 2 at the G in week 1 is virtually impossible this year, as it would require at least one vic team in the top 2, along with teams in 5th and 6th (2nd Vic final has to be played at blunderdome).
