hypotheticals

It's a hypothetical you clown. :D

Obviously the situation would never eventuate, geelong would ask for much more and we would be unwilling to give it up. But seriously, I would take a proven superstar over a potential superstar at the moment (I'm talking supersuperstar, not Nick Dal Santo), he would lift the performance of our team a heap.

Bare in mind he's pretty much the only player I would give up naita for.

But yes, I trust our club will get it right with development again, as they have in the past. It's all part of supporting the greatest club in the land. :)
No you are the clown! Huh.

Lol Nic Dal Santo.

If we had two Naitanui's I might consider it, but then swiftly uppercut myself to the face as a reward for my stupidity.

The last part of your post is thoughtful and well reasoned.

Just how much do you value our young guns?
Hypothetically would you trade:
Yes or No?
NicNat for Garry Ablett YES wouldn't even think about it Best Player in comp by a country mile
Swift for Nic Dalsanto NO Dalsanto over rated IMO although Dal still handy Swift has huge potential
Masten for Rhyse Palmer YES has showed more at this point and Masten may turn out to be a big disappointment
LeCras for Roughhead NO Lecras has so much potential especially when we improve to a finals team although Roughy is versatile
McKinlay for Yarran MAYBE line ball both have major question marks on their attitudes leaning towards Yarran based on upside and the impact returning home could have on both players
Brown for Nathan Bock YES Bock is one of the most damaging players from half back very under rated although I conced Brown could be a great player
Hurn for Luke Hodge YES I hate Hawthorn but the guy is just an inspiration machine and has performed on the bigest stage although Hurn does have a lot of upside
Cox for Sandilands NO both great ruckman but Cox is a true club man untradable IMO
Spanger for Andrew Walker MAYBE both have their best football in front of them although leaning towards Walker has real upside if he reaches his potential

I think many of us supporters get a bit biased during threads like this and even I had to detach my loyalty to several players to write this DISCUSS?

NicNat for Garry Ablett. Tempting if there were some talls in this years draft but because there isn't, No

Swift for Nic Dalsanto NO

Masten for Rhyse Palmer Hell No

LeCras for Roughhead Hell Yes! LeCras is great but u cant knock back a superstar forward like that.

McKinlay for Yarran Hell Yes! Yarran is going to be a star, McKinlay will never be better than good.

Brown for Nathan Bock. No but tempting

Hurn for Luke Hodge. Wow the hardest one of the lot. Ill say no.

Cox for Sandilands. No Chance.

Spanger for Andrew Walker. This one wouldnt really care either way. Ill say No

I tried to be realistic. Not that would we would do all of these trades but you have to think of them individually. I can't believe people are saying no to Roughead.

I cannot believe how many said they would not trade Nic Natanui for Ablett.

It is a hypothetical, the club would have the papers signed before the question was finished being asked.

I would give up Nat for at least 100 players across the league, we can only go on what we have seen from Nic, right at this present point Nic is a kid with potential, nothing more, nothing less.

If you talk hypotheticals then answer as it really is and not what it could possibly be.
Really difficult, the best player in the country or the 500th best player in the country.
Not a difficult question at all.

That's wrong straight off the bat. He has already influenced games and been in the best players multiple times.

It can't be wrong Underdog as its an opinion and that is all.

No it's wrong.

Declaring Naitanui is a kid with potential and nothing more undersells him. It suggests we wouldn't miss his input.

I think we would have been a substantially worse team without his late season input and impact.

He is already having an impact greater then many established AFL ruckman. Suggesting he's nothing more then potential is wrong.

What he is, is an exciting and solid player in his own right with significant scope for improvement.

Wow some serious bias in this thread ... we will be the greatest side of all time if some of these players match the hypotheticals. All the same nothing wrong with a bit of supporter bias!

For me - I am going for premierships in a hurry so ...

NicNat for Garry Ablett - Yes, in a heartbeat.
Swift for Nic Dal Santo - Yes (although somewhat reluctantly)
Masten for Rhys Palmer - No, both very talented youngsters, will be hard for Palmer to have the same impact coming of his injury - I think I prefer Masten. Mind you with a midfield consisting of Ablett, Dal Santo, Kerr and Hodge - in all likelihood neither would get a game!
LeCras for Roughhead- No, I rate Le Cras very highly and wouldn't make this trade.
McKinley for Yarran - Yes
Brown for Nathan Bock - Yes
Hurn for Luke Hodge - Yes (very reluctantly!)
Cox for Sandilands- No, I still rate Cox at full fitness higher than Sandilands ... although clearly the two best rucks in the comp for mine.
Spangher for Andrew Walker - Yes (although neither an automatic selection in my 'hypothetical' side)

So my hypothetical team for Round 1 next season ...

FB: A.Selwood - D.Glass - E.McKenzie
HB: L.Hodge - N.Bock - S.Butler
C: A.Embley - D.Kerr - M.Rosa
HF: C.Masten - J.Kennedy - B.Ebert
FF: C.Yarran - Q.Lynch - M.LeCras
R: D.Cox - G.Ablett - N.Dal Santo
Int: M.Priddis - A.Hansen - S.Selwood - A.Walker

NicNat for Garry Ablett = Yes
Swift for Nic Dalsanto = No
Masten for Rhyse Palmer = No goddamn way
LeCras for Roughhead = Yes
McKinlay for Yarran = Yes, O god yes
Brown for Nathan Bock = Probably not
Hurn for Luke Hodge = Toughy, 50/50. Would be happy with either
Cox for Sandilands = No
Spanger for Andrew Walker = No

yes to all then WC will win next 5 flags:thumbsu:

stupid thread by the way

You are obviously not smart enough to figure what the thread was all about.
It was about how everybody rated the future of our young guns as individuals.
IT WAS NOT about trading half the team to win a flag. Get it now !!
