Also i have a reason to not wanna go bald, i have a lump on my head and so if i went bald would have to pay to get it removed and i cant really be bothered so i wanna stick with ym hair! apart from that im not too worried bout baldness, my Dad is, and id just go with shorter hair cuts as if thats what i WANTED.

It fits for me, because my dad is completely bald as are all my uncles, but my brother and I have full heads of hair and no sign of losing it — and yep, my grandfather on mum's side kept all his hair until he died in his late 80s.

the thing is, i believe the baldness gene linked on a male chromosome. so if you are one of the lucky 50% that got this gene from your father, look to see if he is bald. if you got the gene from your mother, it is unlikely she will be bald, so look at her father.

i think you are pretty right if your father is not bald, and your grandfather is not bald (or your mothers grandfather etc...)

grap a healthy clump of hair off the top of your head with your hand and pull up gently (letting the hair slide through).

i heard someone say it is normal to have one or two strands left between the fingers

I used to be heaps paranoid about the concept of going bald. No one in my family is bald, but I realized that I was loosing up to 15 hairs per day washing my hair in the shower with shampoo and conditioner. However, I soon learned that it is normal to loose about 100 hairs per day, so I was actually below average. I cant notice any signs of balding and I have no idea where I am loosing the other 85 hairs per day. So ive come to the conclusion that im not going bald!

I think if you run your fingers through your hair and you don’t end up with heaps in your fingers, or you can still feel short spiky hairs on the top of your head (new hair), then you should be ok.

One more question, someone pointed out that its bad to wash your hair every day with conditioner, and to dry it in front of a fan heater? Is this true? because I do this every day in winter.

But if what you say is true then I am safe. I don't think it is though. The baldness gene is on the X chromosome and males can only get the X chromosome from..... their mother.

True however... a males mother got one X chromosome from her mother and one from her father. And so her sons can get either of those, but you won't know which one it is until you start going bald, or not. So it's probably best to look at your mothers' father, and your mother's brothers to see the results of both possible chromosomes.
