AFL Club
Richmond
as the title say's "i don't get it?"

Why do any of the other clubs care if we put Polak on the rookie list now, instead of before the national draft?

WE passed on pick 70. If we knew of Pollys state better then, we wouldn't have passed on that pick - and 10 clubs may not have gotten the players they did, that were taken with picks adter 70 - including collingwood with Leigh Brown (well they would have - no ****ing chance we would of taken him)

So why are they so fricking "annoyed" or suss that we are going to do it now? surely it is better for them us doing it now, rather than then??

If it is about Cousins ( which it is NOT - it is about Polak's health:mad: - the reports had filtered out that his vision is not appropriate for AFL anymore 3 days ago) - why does it matter?? Any of the 16 clubs could have taken Cousins in the National Draft - we could have taken him with our pick 70.

In the PSD - there are still FIVE clubs who have a pick before us - who can take him.

Eddie McGuire's comments really really irk me
"We just have to remember the Adam Ramanauskas case was a one-off. It wasn't a precedent. It was in totally different circumstances."

whats the major difference Eddie? One got cancer, and the other got in a horrific accident? Would you say that was any different to when Motley had his tragic issue? or if other AFL clubs made you have to keep Darren Milane on the list - because he was still contracted - despite being dead?

It is a morbid comment - and Eddie, it IS a precedent - because any special consideration that has been made in the past - can ALWAYS be used in a court of law to be a precedent.

Greg Swan also irks me with his comments
"If you give Richmond another pick, they might pick a bloke that Melbourne wanted in the rookie draft (in which it has the first pick overall) and maybe that isn't fair.

first off - Melbourne don't need you to protect them - and once again, considering the terrible accident that happened to Motley all those years ago - a club like Carlton should certainly understand the emotion that goes along with these things.

If think any club that questions the motives to "why now" are totally insensitive to both Graham, his family & the RFC as a whole.

OUR club want's to give Graham EVERY chance of getting his life back to what it is - we gave him EVERY chance possible to "get better" before the end of all the drafting - but OBVIOUSLY, he has not improved enough?

Why does our club be accused of using his tragedy - as a "stunt"? It is an insult of the highest order - and our club has always supported other clubs in the same situation - Broadbridge with Melbourne, Rama with the bombers, and so on

Get ****ed Eddie McGuire - you sad fat little prick:thumbsd::mad:

you couldn't keep a powerhouse like Channel 9 at the top - and you could never take a powerhouse like Collingwood to the top - for all your success - you really have never EVER been able to prove you have the winners touch when it matters

they're all scared of the mighty tiges. dont want to help us at all cuz they KNOW we are back and they dont want to make it worse by helping us even though its all for polak.

good on essendon for backing us. and i would of thought freo will support us as well seeing as polak played for them originally. so SCREW collingwood and carlton!

I dont think that the aFL will be sympathetic to collingwood and carltons selfish view. This is about extending a glimmer of hope to a fellow that incurred a life threatening injury OFF the footy field. It could happen to anyone and under the same circumstances I am certain like minded clubs would expect to be treated in kind...It will get through, coz it's the right thing to do,:thumbsu:

Who cares?

Let them bitch all they like. It'll just make it that much sweeter when we take our two pre-season draft picks and stick it up their ass. :thumbsu:

Because we, in theory, are (or appear to be) circumventing the rules and will reap a potentially fantastically high reward.

McChins and the rest are annoyed because they didn't have the werewithall to take the punt on Cuzzy (and nor did we it seems) but we could possibly get him through the back door and minimal drafting cost.

You can't really blame them for opposing, it will be egg on their face IF Cousins is a success and the fact we got him especially cheap would really grate, esepecially for Eddie.

Just calm down you lot ;)

dude, it will have more implications that just grating on him. The scums faithful will want to lynch him, since they were always the front runners to get him from way back when. ;)

Eddie is losing the plot. ;)

I always think of Eddie as having hte same head as that kid in Willy Wonka's choco factory ... you know the bright purple kid who kept expanding, and expanding, and expanding

Make sure you aren't within cooee of Ed when his purple head explodes, it could get messy :D

surely getting him with pick 70,71,72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83 OR PSD 1,2,3,4,5 would be just as "minimal" ?

thats what i'm getting at - I don't get it? and we STILL haven't even said we'll take him! Who knows - perhaps the club has decided to give Gourdis a 2nd chance (who is training with us) in sympathy to his depression?

I know, I know ... but this way we appear to be getting a deal of the century, even if in reality it is not much different ... and Eddie don't like it

As a Collingwood suporter I don't get it either. I couldn't care if somebody took Cousins. There was a time that I wished we would take him, but not now.

However, there is a difference between injury/ illness caused by an accident and one by natural causes. You could argue that there is precedence with Rama but I don't believe they're the same.

Still, Richmond can have him. They're still a couple of years away from growing into an elite unit and he'll be done and dusted by then.

There's no point in arguing. Come Monday, common sense will prevail, and the AFL will grant Richmond permission to put Polak on the rookie list. Let's not fight the inevitable, it is in the AFL's best interest's for Cousins to play again, and he will do so, in a Tigers jumper.

Eddie - what a toss:rolleyes:

what a selfish little fat piggy of a man he is - because he didn't have the balls to get Cousins - he doesn't want anyone else to, in case he actually can get his life back together - and essentailly, also give Polly a lifeline and another 12 months to see if he can recover

you Selfish, Selfish FAT F********CK

Hey I'm having fun! :D

Maybe I should've taken note of the responses so far. Everywhere you look on these forums there is an inherent lack of thought put into posts. This thread is just a whinge topic for Richmond supporters. It happens on the Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon....... threads as well. Collingwood are not the only club but the media being themselves have named Collingwood as one of the clubs opposing the move. I put myself into Richmond's shoes and would try the same move. In Collingwood and other clubs shoes, I have every right to oppose it. How about looking at it from other points of view rather than the typical response "They're such sooks, we'll stick it up 'em". Mighty intelligent!!

Nail on the head GameOver, if the Pies tried this we would be up in arms.

Its all down to the AFL now, no point getting too fired up about the Pies or Ed.

Does make for good reading though :D

P.S. classic imagery Astro ... LOL

2 clubs have made neagtive public statements in regards to it

Yours - lead by the FAT ****

and Greg Swann - that bloke who used to work with the FAT **** who is now at carlton - who also is also noted in the thread.

FACT

My point proven beyond any shadow of a doubt - thank you Astro Toby.

If your point was that Eddie is a selfish, gutless pig - you're Welcome bro.

Despite a few clowns that always ruin your club (less face it, every club has a few) I wish the Tiges all the best for 2009. It would be in the leagues best interests for them to finally play some meaningful games towards September.

It really shows the following things:

Essendon, although I hate them as a team, have decent supporters and administration. They realise this is about Polak, and the fact that we gave him as much time as possible to recover should be commended...as Polak himself has done in writing to the AFL!!!

MOST Collingwood and Carlton supporters and administration, at least on here, are concerned only with themselves... They want all the sympathy when something tragic happens at their club but then crack the sads about other teams gaining concessions for similar tragedies.

Eddie and Swann are effectively saying that we should be punished in the form of being 1 player short for giving Polak an extended chance at recovery on the main list. They must be f*&ked in the head! If eddie blocks this we should demand that milane (RIP and no disrespect) is added to your list retrospectively at the cost of a player of ben cousins ilk...didak seems to be the most comparable in terms of ability and behavior :thumbsu: Because us demanding that is no lower than collingwood demanding that we should not be allowed to give Polak a couple of weeks extra to attempt to recover his health to an AFL standard.:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

As long as his full contracted salary is included in your cap I say let him be rookied. the difference with rama is he was out of contract and it was a one off. rama also didnt have any alcohol in his system.

If the AFL dont let this happen then all other clubs should state they wont draft him ever and let him b a tiger.

Also the tigers knew he wasnt going to play ages ago I think that Wallet knows he has to poduce this year to get an extension and he thinks that cousins is a short term fix

The alcohol part is unfounded and shouldn't be brought into the argument.

I am all for allowing this to occur, but it may also open a can of worms for other clubs that have players with long term injuries. Where does the AFL draw the line?? Just a point to consider.

I don't care who Richmond draft, and in fact hope they give Cousins a chance (somebody has too), but look at both sides of the argument. What happened to Polak was tragic, but emotion shouldn't come into a decision like this, only logic.

Ummm...how the hell would you know if he had alcohol in his system? Every article I've read specifically says he didn't.

NO NO NO, we're saying look at the move at face value , we're looking to extend a lifeline to a young fellas career, we could have retired him you know. It's totally selfish of collingwood to can the move on the basis that there may be an extended benefit in this...Thats neither here nor there and not what the AFL will be interested in debating
