I don't hate Collingwood

Another AFL survey is completed with confirmation once again that there are a whole lot of people that still dislike Collingwood, but why? They have not been particularly good in the last 50 years, they have not rorted the system, Most of the players I've known (30 years) have been likeable hardworking types, and there has been some serious urban gentrification amongst their supporter group. I think the Collingwood that we are all supposed to hate vanished sometime in the early 90s. I understand, as a result of the ancient rivalry, how Carlton and Essendon fans would hate them, but the rest of us?

I don't hate Collingwood. I probably did 25 years ago, but these days if it has no bearing on my team's position, I don't care if they win or lose.

Never hated Collingwood, thought I hated Hawthorn for awhile, possibly Freo with there defensive gameplan.

However no, it seems I never actually hated any of them. Not until Essendon and the cult of Hird, they showed me how to hate.

I agree with the opening post as there are many reasons to hate other teams ahead of Collingwood. Sure Eddie is a d**k and Cloake is also unlikable but all clubs have people in them like that. They don't cheat, don't get massive unfair advantages over the comp from the AFL and they don't beat us constantly. They are a well run club that I respect greatly.

I don't mind the Pies either. Got their share of ****wit supporters, but probably no more per capita than anyone else.

It's Essendon I always have and always will despise. The sheer arrogance is something you don't see in Collingwood and they've even got Carlton covered.

I hated Collingwood but eventually I grew up! For me, when I was a kid what really annoyed me was how good they thought they were even though they weren't really any good. Having said that, I haven't really hated Collingwood for many years. You just have to look at Collingwoods membership drive tv commercial to understand why that club irk's some people. Peter Daicos and I quote "Collingwood domination, envy of the Nation"!
I mean that is a pretty ****ed up statement for a club that's won 2 flags in the last 50 plus years. However the team I follow/followed Essendon surely must 'take the cake' currently in terms of the most disliked club for obvious reasons.
