And if you arent allowed to drink even a diet coke whilst driving, why the hell do car manufacturers get away with fitting drink holders to cars???

To hold your drink in until you get home and can drink it? ;)

I'm pretty sure in Victoria you are not allowed to handle a mobile phone at all while driving, even while stationary at lights. Would be surprised if this isn't the case across most/all states.

That's correct. You are not allowed to use a mobile phone at all while you are driving.

I didn't think you were allowed to drink while driving full stop!

It would one of the things that Mr. Policeman looks out for if he hasn't already fulfilled his qouta for the night. Pricks

 Just lay it on the passenger seat and not open it? Negates the need for the holder, which i thought was only required for open drinks, to prevent spillage?

Ah HA! But what if it's a drink from McDonalds? Have you ever bought a drink from there with a lid that fits? You can't lay those babies down.

Maybe Macca's are in cahoots with car manufacturers? :)

Probably are. So are we really not allowed to eat and drink in our cars? This is doing my head in!!

And then that proposes the other question - is it law that if you have a dog/cat in the car that it has to be restrained "properly"? Cos i have seen dogs tied to ropes in trailers, and my dog just runs around the car, sits on my knee and sometimes sleeps on the back parcel shelf! Surely they will crack down on this too?

My stepfathers german shepherd fell out of his trailer and wrecked all the tendons in her leg and had to get it cut off!! Its very bad!!! :(
