I'd recommend having a look at everything on The Butterfly Effect's "Begins Here" and "Imago" albums as IMO they sound better as a complete body of work, but if you are only keen on a sampler then...

Lots of metalcore bands are similar to Metallica, liek Trivium. Unless you want to totally get away from it.

Megadeth, Anthrax and as others mentioned Trivium, Karnivool and Iron Maiden. These aren't completely similar but both Megadeth and Anthrax are good thrash metal.
