To choose someone other than Ablett to put the C on next week.

He has just scored 98 tonight, and in the month before that scored 121, 138, 109 and 102.

Player's like Hodge and Goddard are going nuts atm.

Is it worth the risk?

I'm glad you asked. When people do start asking this question, he'll pop out a lazy 180 + score.... :D :thumbsu:

This reminds me of the last year of Fantasy EPL that Ronaldo was in.. Had him capt most of the time and did nothing. Just think GAZ has he mind elsewhere. Mind you, it seems it was more of a team effort last night. Certainly looking at Hodge and especially Goddard next week. I'll probably chicken out.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I have actually done it twice already this season, in Rd3 I chose O'Keefe (112) with Ablett as VC (157) and in Rd 5 Sandilands (145) and Ablett scored 171 (I didn't even have him as VC that week). Both times Ablett has outscored my Captain choice.

However my Captains have scored 1533 points in 12 rounds (including Ablett's score of 97 yesterday) at an average of 128 points per game, where as my Vice Captains have scored 1515 in 11 games (Goddard is my VC this week and is yet to play) at an average of 138 point. In all but 3 games my VC has outscored my C.

In the end it is just another way that SC does your head in! Don't get me started about bench rotations :(

I've done it three times in my Supercoach career. Been burnt all three times as he has ripped out 150+ on every occasion. I probly won't have the balls to do it again, though Luke Hodge does look delicious.

Haha, yup i'm strongly considering moving the C off Ablett, but like you've mentioned he'll carve out a lovely 150+ to rub it in.

Essendon will beat Hawthorn next week (not biased, they are a better team but we always seem to beat them, I guess we're their bogey side) so Hodge won't score as well.

Ablett is a perma-captain. Change him at your own risk.

Hodge v Essendon Round 6 = 118

Respectable score, but I'd like more from my captain.

Ablett v St Kilda Round 14 2009 = 105
Ablett v St Kilda Grand Final 2009 = 123

Nothing special there either

Goddard v Geelong doesn't yield anything spectacular either.

hodge is the sweeper - and good at it - 120 is his minimum now.

over the years ive never had ablett in my team - and yeah its no doubt cost me. this year ive had hodge & goddard sharing the honour.

i had been saving spare cash to bring him in late season, but im either gonna keep waiting til its a straight swap or save the trade. still got 7 premium mids anyway, and 1 will be sacked by year end.

I've only taken the C off Ablett twice - once was two year's back when he was just one of several ~$600K players and Chad Cornes and Pav were also all the rage as captaincy choices. Cornes fell a long way short of a ton while Ablett had a massive game and proceeded from there to march off towards his perch above the competition. Was about a 300 point loss to change away from him.

Last year I waivered again the week he got his 250...every other week he was captain. Lost about 300 points with that decision too. At the worst exchange you may lose 100 or even very rarely 150 playing Ablett captain, but the consequences of not having him can be much worse.

With so many people having him, getting burned to the tune of 300 points can go a long way to ruining your entire season if you're playing for ranking - you plummet. And you sit there telling yourself there was sound logic in switching away from him...and look at that 250 points and count what your total would be with that doubled...and you call yourself an idiot...frequently. ;)

Dane Swan - come on down!

He's in great form (hasn't scored under 100 in 6 weeks), is the second highest averaging pure-midfielder (averaging 119), he has a great history against the Swans (only 1 score under 90 in 7 games against them), and he's a dead set gun. Now watch Ablett smash 200.

ablett not having the best season so far...and hes not even averaging the most points..i dont see why you wouldnt give it to others like Goddard whos lowest score this year is 98..

Ablett does have the highest average.

I think I'm going to give the captaincy to Goddard or Hodge...

only because of superstition. I want the Saints to win, and Ablett spudding it up would help.

Even better, does that Vice-Captain trick still work? Make Hodge your VC and Ablett your C, and if Hodge tears it up, make your captain some spud (Warnock with Sandi on the bench as EMG for example) and take Hodgey's score.

hey thats smart...

I'm damn close to jumping off. Last week i said to myself if he doesn't dominate against us i'll take it off him. Still, doing it is alot harder than thinking about doing it :D

Interestingly, the great man is now 642k with a b/e of 176 against an in-form St Kilda.

I'm sure there'll be a few looking to bump some old threads if he gets under 600k.

Like that darn '170k vs 100k rookies' debacle.
