B - Tambling Moore Schulz
HB - Rance McGuane Polo
C - Newman Coughlan Cousins
HF - Riewoldt Richo Brown
F - Morton Hughes Foley
R - Simmo Deledio Cotchin
I - Tuck Jackson Connors Graham
E - White Collins Thomson Post JON Polak Thursfield

play together for six weeks. Obviously not yet, as a number of players are not ready to play and others need time at Coburg, but this is the side I want to see get an extended run to see exactly where we are.

If that fails, play the kids:

B - Tambling Moore Thursfield
HB - Polo McGuane Rance
C - Collins Thomson Connors
HF - JON Riewoldt Foley
F - Morton Gourdis Nahas
R - Graham Deledio Cotchin
I - White Jackson Post Patto
E - Polak Gilligan Pettifer

and tank. Gaspar Johnson, Bowden, Simmo, Brown. Send Richo, Tuck and Cogs to Hawaii, Newman, Schulz, Hughes and Cuz to the Kokoda track, and McMahon to the gym with his personal trainer Jake King.

Make Sheeds director of football, get him to convince James Hird and Damien Hardwick to take the reigns and while he's at it, Neil Balme to be footy manager and Francis Bourke to return to the match committee. Tommy Hafey can take over Sheeds' role as membership ambassador and Caro can take Anthony Mithen's seat on the board.

Recruit what used to be known as 'Richmond Footballers': big, strong, quick blokes who can kick. Unearth a superstar forward and sign a big tough ruckman.

Problem solved.:thumbsu:

My squad

B - Newman Moore Polo
HB - Rance Thursfield Cousins
C - Foley Tuck Coughlan
HF - McGuanne Richardson Raines
F - Morton Riewoldt Pettifer
R - Simmonds Deledio Cotchin
I - Nahas Jackson Tambling Browne
E - Thomson Post Vickery White Connors

Give Wallace another 3 years, make him take Hardwick (pay him as much as he wants) as an assistant, Get Sheeds into recruitment/list management, employ Sam Newman as ruck coach (as bug a dick head as he is, when he talks ruck he seems to be on the money?), get Mark Webber as fitness mentor (this will be his last season in F1 and he will have plenty of time next year), get a billionaire as president:D

I want to see this side;

C: Deledio, Coughlan, Cotchin
HF: Cousins, Richardson, Brown
F: Riewoldt, Polak, Morton
R: Simmonds, Tuck, Foley
INT: White, Thomson, Pattison, Polo

Piss off the dead wood, and get the contested blokes in who will go and get the bloody ball. :thumbsu:

this should be the side from this week until rnd 22 .....

b : newman thursty mcguane
hb: rance moore polo
c: delids cogs jackson
hf: bowden cho reiwoldt
f: morton cleve brown
foll: simmonds foley tuck
int: patto conners white collins

bowden & roller would have to perform because you still have cotchin, cuz & raines all to come back in over next few weeks. simmonds also should be under pressure & if there is no lift in his game, unfortunately patto will have to start ( i say this because he is not a ruckman but a chf imo ) & graham should be brought in as the back up to develop. not forgetting vickery here either.

If we are 1-5 by time round 7 rolls around I would like to see us start playing for the future. By that I mean we take a good look at the kids. Every kid should be given at least 3 games through the remainder of the season to see what they can do at AFL level and see if they are worth persisting with.

B: Newman Thursfield Polo
HB: Rance McGuane Moore
C: White Deledio Richo
HF: Morton Pattison Reiwoldt
F: Nahas Hughes Connors
R: Graham Cotchin Foley

The only senior player I would allow to stay is Richo because at the moment he seems to be the only one who is bleeding that things aren't going well. (If you get the chance watch the very end of the Dogs game and read his lips after the siren has gone.) Even then though I would only be playing him in short bursts and allowing a kid to go out there and gain some experience.

One thing I thought was clear from Monday's game was that Newman is a liability in defence. His arseh*le was nearly as gaping and bloody as King's, given that Hill and Higgins were taking turns to embarrass them.

I think our captain's a bit of a cheat. He seems to always take the easy, wide option, so I would play him on the right wing, meaning he has to come inboard and through the centre when he wheels on to his trusty left boot. That way we'll have him delivering the ball into danger areas of the forward line, instead of where the 50m line meets the boundary.

Because some of the players I named on the bench at least deserve the chance to try and save their careers. If, they can't turn it around in the next 3 weeks then they deserve to get the chop for a kid.

Brain dead last line of defence!
As a group, working together, they couldn't tie their own shoelaces.

Nailed him RatD...three cheating captains in a row, but our next choice won't be. :thumbsu:

Your side is very good...only thing I'd change is White for Hughes and Schulz at FF, and a little positional shuffling because the forward line lacks pace and chase IMO, though midfield rotations could easily change that.

I'd really like to see Connors played in the FP and short rotations through the middle. He's a good contested mark and a classy finisher...I don't think we have a better future FP combo than he and Morton at the very brief times they were together last year.

FWIW, I've also always felt that a left footer playing up the right wing/flank and vice-versa makes it easier for them to come inboard and be more effective in the corridor.

Good old captain Newman spends massive amounts of time on the opposite side and runs that way 95 times out of 100. ;)

I thought of that too but as much as we'd like him to, Schulz has never grabbed FF. He's a handy extra tall in defence, often third man up and a good user bringing the ball out. I don't have any faith in Hughes but we at least need to see him play for a couple of months before we sign his death warrant. Foley is there for pace and chase.

I like Connors wherever he plays, but I think he could be the one to solve our hard/creative HBF probs, once he matures. I can definitely see his marking skills cutting off leads, he uses it well and won't be afraid to attack through the middle.

I like how Foley is played in the FP, but I think Nahas can take that spot off him. Also I'd play Richo on the HFF and sparingly so we can prolong his career. Newman could play Jordie's role with more accountable nuts in defence. I'm also over tuck, he's kicking is shite.

B - Rance Moore Polo
HB - Newman McGuane Deledio
C - Brown Coughlan Cousins
HF - Richo Riewoldt Connors
F - Morton Post Nahas

I - Thomson Collins Connors Browne

Only 6 bad kicks in that side. Still too many.

Cream yourself over this draftman:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_VFL_Draft

We had 12 ND picks, four pre-season picks and two midyear picks (18 new players in a year! - even with larger lists that's incredible turnover) and still only got three players out of it. And one of those was 35 when we drafted him and played all of two years.

It was truly amateur stuff back then. We went with what we knew and drafted kids from Mildura and Tassie.:o

As opposed to now where we totaly on top of it. The only difference is that we were able to see other teams stuff up thier draft picks.

pick 15 Nathan Bower and 29 Wayne Campbell.

How much better do WE really do these days?
