Ian's nickname was brought up yesterday, and my friends said he's called "Sarge" because he's a policeman.

That's not what I thought. I thought he was nicknamed "Sarge" when he first started at the Crows because of the way he trained.

Anyone confirm this?

Also, does anyone else dislike Chris McDermott's commentary as much as I do? The worst part about the Saturday games is watching the replay on TV and listening to the Channel 10 commentators. Yuk.

I wish that commentators would work out whether they are calling the game or coaching both sies that are out on the field. I turn the commentary off half the time to avoid the drivel. McDermott and Brereton are the worst offenders. :(

I've heard the policeman theory......but I think I remember him saying that it was because he used to stand up really straight and listen to Blighty. Not sure really though.

k
xx

I was interested with the commentary yesterday. Learnt a few new things about the Crows.
For example, did you know Tyson Stenglein still plays for the Crows, and Ian Perrie has a mop of curly black hair?

Never heard anything about him being a cop.

Thought it was a nickname that stuck as a youngster because he always stood to attention in front of Blighty.

Yes, the standing to attention at training seems to be what I remember. Thanks for those answers.

Lol.

What a shame Ten's doing the finals. I wonder if they'll have worked out who the players are by then.

Aww come on dont be harsh, the commentators seemed tp remember all the collingwood names.

Commentary Saturday was SHOCKING absolutely awful. I realise that the game was a blowout but c'mon :)

And was it a channel 10 game cos I thought McDerm worked for Foxtel?? :)
:)

Yes, apparently it was a Foxtel game, as Stiffy 18 pointed out.

My friends really don't like the way Ian plays, but I have a soft spot for him. I reckons he tries hard, and that counts for something.
