Our club could have said Burgess leaving. Not mention where. An email to members thanking Burgess for his service and good luck in future role. Without naming the role specifically.

Then announce McKeown.

Just a small thing, but letting members know first, rather than media stumbling on it is a bit more professional.
Our media department have never been accused of being great.

Will being Northern Irish give him a head start in being able to understand Mark Keane?

Nicks: Ok Ian, tell Mark he's giving away too many free kicks and he needs to stop it
Ian (to Mark): Mark, aihney'eheh don' dash an harderber en aiheny' neir. OK?
Mark (to Ian): ney an imnottawerlaghandoerin'natter in tellin.
Ian (to Mark): Canennarten iaghn OK?
Mark (to Ian): nor
Ian (to Mark): I said Canennarten iaghn OK?
Mark (to Ian): nor, en tellim!

Ian: He says you can go and **** yourself

Mark: thumbs up

His academic interests seem to be a lot in power and explosiveness. Any of that come through in practice?

My one criticism of him would be that he didn't seem to understand the importance of bulk in moving other players in a contact sport.

He focused on smart muscle which makes sense from an academic perspective but didn't necessarily translate.

No doubt he has refined those thoughts being in the NFL.

NHL not NFL.

Maybe we didn’t want to announce where he was going g out of respect BUT we’re happy for fans to find out where he was going as part of finding out he was leaving because it softens the blow knowing it’s for such an opportunity rather than speculation about us shitting the bed losing him and it being any potential role including another AFL club and this place being hysterical rather than how this panned out

Nah, it's a timezone thing pure and simple.

Read their press release, we're nobodies to them, zero international profile. They're also desperate for good news; the last few years have been depressing for a team that, domestically at least, had no genuine competitors for ~twenty years.

Still, all is forgiven for the only black and white team I can support. Forza Juve

We were literally.mentioned by name. Don't make things up.

Throughout his career, Darren has made significant contributions through his work both in Europe (at Liverpool and Arsenal, for example, working actively in injury prevention) and across the globe, including consulting with clubs in the NFL and NBA (his most recent collaboration being in Australia with Adelaide Football Club).

Name dropping global teams and global leagues, then throwing AFC on the end in a way that your everyday Bianconeri would think we're an Amercian league team. The person who wrote this press release had to google us for sure.

If that wasn't enough, a second-cousin played for Juve's first team for a short while - can assure you from the horse's mouth, all they know about Australia is kangaroos and bushfires

I don't know what else you expected, we are a small city in a small country playing a domestic game.

Yeah just ask Antonio Giraudo, Riccardo Africola and Luciano Moggi why they had no competitors for almost two decades

Absolute disgrace of an organisation. The football equivalent of a pharmacy who were not only massive drug cheats for decades, but also used their power and influence over refs and officials to rig matches for years on end - even going as far as using intimidation methods like locking referees in locker rooms.

Deserve to be playing Sunday League football these days, but hey, all is forgiven :drunk:
