well... sometimes players just thrive on the big stage, whereas they don't set the world on fire in the minor leagues......

I wish the lad well....

It's good to see that CC is giving the youth a run

I also rate him highly, he is very classy and should be a good player. Just dont think he is as quick as some Freo supporters are saying/expecting. He isnt slow but he's not the type to burst away from a standing start. I'm also not sure what position he will playing in the dockers side, he would make a good HBF but Freo have pleanty of those types. He is far from proven in the middle even at WAFL level and dont think he even played much in the middle through colts(?).

Am I being alittle too harsh by saying he probably would have wanted to show more at WAFL before he got a go in the bigtime? Hasnt really done much at that level YET.

Anyway, sounds like I dont rate the guy and I do. Just might be alittle before his time but we'll see.

Agreed he doesn't have super-burst speed Judd or Deledio style, but he does have good agility for a guy his size (Think Dion Woods). Watching him in the WAFL, he seems to have exceptional footskills; this is his prime advantage. He also has good size, long arms, leap and marking ability. Actually come to think of it he is very similar to Dion Woods except that Ibbotson seems to have the endurance to play midfield positions.

As for position, my cousin played with him in Colts, and said he played mainly off the HBF, with a few bursts in the middle every now and then - but that was colts and this is now. I would suggest his AFL position would be the wing, as his good size, endurance and skills would make him a good link man. I don't think he will be a centreman - just does not get enough of the ball, and I am not convinced of his ability around the packs.

I haven't made up my mind as to whether this guy is the real deal or not. Good luck to him in his first game.

My only worry is with East having the bye I can see him missing out tomorrow for Webster or Campbell

When a player has debuted in recent times it has been announced that they will be playing Wednesday/Thursday, then they usually speak to the media. That hasn't happened this week so I won't be surprised if there is a late change.

Webster might come in to tag Deledio who has been playing half back, I'd prefer to see Mundy or Thornton get the job on Deledio and play Ibbo.

just saw ibbo on sports tonight saying he was excited about tomorrow :thumbsu:

Peake was never carving it up in the WAFL. His game is suited to AFL level. Hopefully it's the same deal with Ibbotson.

That's not true. have I corrected you on this before? I corrected someone?
He was racking up possessions in the WAFL but his disposal was under question, and his size. Both are still under question.

Heard from a family member he was told a few weeks back he would get a game in the coming weeks if he continued his performances. The club was very happy with his derby performance last week.
