John Buchanan calls it quits as Australian Coach

In shock news, John Buchanan has stood down as the Australian cricket coach, after coaching the nation since 1999. Buchanan decided family is first and at 53 years of age, he thinks it is in his best interest to do so.

Buchanan's career as coach has seen success in his 7 years. The 2003 World Cup, 2001 and 2002/03 Ashes victories, and the greatest test winning streak of all time from day 1. A quality instructor and teacher of the game, Buchanan had only played 7 first-class games, but his profession of giving advice paid off as he is the most successful coach for Australia in the sport.

19 year-old Mikey Robinson announced coach by ACB

The Australian Cricket Board have announced an amazing decision to have 19 year old Mikey Robinson as head coach of the Australian Cricket Team. With the resignation by John Buchanan 48 hours ago, the decision was made by the Board, thinking the young man can do the job better than other candidates.

Robinson, who never has played a first-class cricket match for his state, nor grade cricket, had the assets as a leader and enthusiasm towards the sport in it's entirety, saw him over the line.

Robinson's first test as coach is the biggest...with the Ashes on the cards. The Aussie's had lost the 2005 series, the first time in 16 years, and the 2006 series down-under is the most anticipated series of all time.

Gilchrist breaks finger ahead of first test

Australian wicket-keeper and vice captain Adam Gilchrist has suffered a big blow ahead of The Ashes, as scans showed a break in his finger, sustained playing for Western Australia whilst keeping to Brad Hogg. The injury comes a week before the opening test of the highly anticipated 2006 Ashes series where Australia are looking to regain the biggest prize in test cricket.

Gilchrist has never missed a test since his debut at the Gabba in 1999 against Pakistan, playing 85 test matches. Brad Haddin has always been the second keeper to Gilchrist, and the New South Welshman is expected to get his baggygreen, and is in solid form in the summer so far, making a test hundred a fortnight ago.

Stuart Clark has also suffered a hamstring injury, ruling him out of contention of breaking back into the side.

First Test: Australia vs England at Brisbane

23 November 2006
Day 1 - Langer smashes Poms and critics with hundred

Justin Langer has hit a magnificant hundred on the long-awaited first day of The Ashes, in front of more than 38,000 at the Gabba. Langer gave it to the Poms, and also to his critics who said he shouldn't be part of the team due to lack of form.

Langer scored 146 off 275 deliveries including 16 boundaries, and formed a solid partnership with skipper Ricky Ponting who failed in the nineties, on the whole figure. Monty Panesar snapped up a wicket in his first over, being Hayden for 20, but a 185 run partnership for the second wicket between Langer and Ponting hurt the English attack.

Martyn and Hussey remain their at stumps, both fairly new to the crease.

First Test: Australia vs England at Brisbane

25 November 2006
Day 3 - Punter celebrates hundred as Aussies take control

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has gone one better, making an unbeaten hundred in the second innings after being dismissed for 90 in the first innings, making more top class impressions as being the best batsmen in the world.

Ponting and Martyn have combined for an unbeaten 183 run partnership at stumps after Shane Warne, Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath took 3 wickets each to remove England for 276. Kevin Pietersen made his hundred in the first session, but was plumb lbw to Shane Warne shortly after holding his bat in the air. Andrew Flintoff made a cameo half-century with the tail.

Day 4 - Pietersen double has England eying historic chase

Being set 426 for victory after a Damien Martyn hundred, England have done well despite losing late wickets, and need 203 for victory with 6 wickets in victory and one Kevin Pietersen.

Pietersen, who made 105 in the first innings, has made a second hundred in the game, and looks invincible at 114 at the close of days play. He was well supported by Ian Bell where they formed a century partnership.

Andrew Strauss once again was lost...as was his off stump which was out of the ground after McGrath's first delivery, the second time in the match he was dismissed in the opening over.

Australia are one step ahead of England in their chance to regain The Ashes, with a 113 run victory over the tourists on a big last day. Needing 203 runs with 6 wickets in hand, it was debutant Mitchell Johnson and veteran Shane Warne who took 3 wickets each in deciding the match.

Kevin Pietersen was out for 125, having no impact on the final day, but his double saw him awarded man of the match.

Hayden dropped whilst Gilchrist and Jaques take place

The Australian selectors have made a risky choice dropping Matthew Hayden from the test side after a shocker at his home ground in the first test. This comes after Hayden was omitted from the ODI side, and despite his success when needed 12 months ago, his summer hasn't been solid enough wheras Phil Jaques had finally eased into the side after tail-gating Justin Langer.

Adam Gilchrist also passed a fitness test, with him replacing Brad Haddin. Shane Watson will remain in the squad, however Michael Clarke will play before him, after Watson's poor performance, which saw him expensive and wicketless with the ball, and had no impact with the bat when the opportunity came.

Second Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

1 December 2006
Day 1 - England humiliated from Aussie attack

England have been stunned at the Adelaide Oval today, winning the toss and electing to bat on the usual pitch that has a bit for bowlers with the new ball but a beautiful outfield. It all went wrong though as the Poms were dismissed all out for 98!

Brett Lee had a fiery first spell taking 3-11 including Cook and Pietersen in the same over. Mitchell Johnson was electrifying too in his bowling partnership with Shane Warne. All three bowlers took 3 wickets, while Steve Harmison was the best batsmen, making 19.

Australia had a problem during the change of innings, with Justin Langer ill. Mike Hussey put on the pads and opened with Phil Jaques, and made a good start, an 89 run partnershi, as Australia took the lead.

ENGLAND - 1st Inns - 98
S Harmison 19

Another awesome story mate.

Is there any difference between this and the normal ICC 2006??

No difference in the gameplay. Only really a roster update, plus you start 6 months later (September 2006). The international XI are more up to date too (I mean, Tudor doesn't get selected for the Poms, and the first test side was exactly the same as the real one, except Monty instead of Ash).

Second Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

2 December 2006
Day 2 - Phil Jaques the perfect inclusion

Matthew Hayden's chances of fighting back into the test side have been further delayed as Phil Jaques made an impressive maiden hundred as Australia made a respectful total of 317. Jaques made 106, coming to the crease at 50 at the start of the day. It took Jaques only 3 tests to prove himself as an international star, after a dominant first-class career.

Matthew Hoggard was brilliant taking 5 wickets, in which 4 were in a spell, while Steve Harmison collected 3. England continued to be in trouble on the Adelaide Oval pitch thanks to Glenn McGrath. McGrath claimed Strauss in the first over again, the third time in the series already! McGrath has 4-37 at stumps.

Second Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

3 December 2006
Day 3 - McGrath takes Aussies 2-0 up

Glenn McGrath has taken 7-67 in an effort to put the Aussies in a dominant position in regaining The Ashes, with the home side winning by an innings and 7 runs. McGrath teamed up on the last day with youngster Mitchell Johnson, to both take three wickets on what would be the final day.

Andrew Flintoff made a half-century, but it was a match England would rather forget, after winning the toss on day 1.

Australia make no change looking for the urn

Heading into a game where the Australians may take back the replica urn has seen no change to the side after their magnificant innings victory in Adelaide last week.

On a pitch that looks nothing better than usual, a fast track for batsmen and pace bowlers, Shane Watson has been decided as the 12th man once again.

Australia: Justin Langer, Phil Jaques, *Ricky Ponting, Damien Martyn, Mike Hussey, Michael Clarke, +Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn McGrath, Shane Watson (12th man)

Third Test: Australia vs England at Perth

14 December 2006
Day 1 - Jaques and Ponting put on show as England crumble

Phil Jaques has smashed his second consecutive hundred on the first day of the third test at Perth, while Ricky Ponting continues his brilliant career form, also with an unbeaten hundred.

The two men went into stumps in the 160's, after Justin Langer was dismissed early for 12 at 1-17, but the Aussie pair have put on 332 so far for the second wicket. Both men have hit 19 boundaries, with Ponting slogging a six over the WACA sidescreen.

James Anderson the only man to take a scalp.

Third Test: Australia vs England at Perth

15 December 2006
Day 2 - England steady but Aussies magnificant

England bowled well to start the day, with Hoggard claiming Ponting early and then Jaques was run out soon after, both adding little to their overnight scores. Clarke and Gilchrist added some strength to the total, but a Hoggard 5 for once again helped end the slogfest early.

England started well with Cook and Strauss and are at 3-134 at stumps, but Pietersen and Cook, their most promising at the top, both out.

Third Test: Australia vs England at Perth

17 December 2006
Day 4 - Warne the man as Aussies edge closer to regaining urn

Setting just under 500 for victory just after lunch, Australia has looked convincing, with Shane Warne the front man of aggressive bowling at the English batsmen, and the success has the Australian 5 wickets away from winning The Ashes in a whitewash so far.

Shane Warne has figures of 3-20 off 15 overs and ready to bowl on a last day pitch, all coming after Australia declared with another big score, and half centuries to Hussey, Clarke and the duo of Jaques and Ponting.

Third Test: Australia vs England at Perth

18 December 2006
Day 5 - Australia win back The Ashes!

That's right, Australia have won The Ashes back from England in another blow out, this time a 303 run victory at the WACA. Shane Warne did the damage on the last day with Glenn McGrath, taking 5-46 from the veteran pace bowlers 3-36.

Andrew Flintoff had said enough of his leadership so far with the bat, but was far from enough to keep them for another week.

Phil Jaques sensational form as an opener was rewarded with man of the match honours.

Hodge replaces out of form Martyn in home test

Brad Hodge has received the best news of his short test career, being selected for the Boxing Day test, infront of his home crowd, as Damien Martyn was dropped due to form.

Hodge averages over 58 runs in test cricket, with a double century to his name in his short career at the top level, but hasn't played for his country since the New Years test last year. Hodge has made 5 first-class centuries in his last 11 matches.

Fourth Test: Australia vs England at Melbourne

26 December 2006
Day 1 - Warne's superb with seven infront of Victorians

Shane Warne, coming off a 5 wicket haul in Perth, has performed at his best, taking 7-67 infront of a home crowd at the MCG today in the annual Boxing Day test. Warne was superb, getting the first breakthrough and then taking the first six wickets of the innings on a turning pitch.

Mitchell Johnson helped clean up the tail with 2 after resistance from keeper, Chris Read, who made 40.
