Idea: Buckley/Clement Co-Captaincy?

It has probably already been announced that Buckley will retain his captaincy but I really thought that James Clement would go co-captains for a year or two, just like Lynch and Voss or McManus and Fletcher. THen after that he would become captain on his own.

What are the general thoughts for this?

What about Rocca? We all know Rocca is the most important player to the team, so why not make him captain of the team?

Don't get me wrong, Clement would make a very good captain, but Rocca is perfect for the role once Bucks decides to hand it over.

I don't like the idea of co-captaincy by the way. In my opinion, co-captaincy will never return!

Clement is the best and most consistant player in the team. definetly clement for captain

Most clubs have a leadership group of 10 or 12 that set an example for the team, it's not just the captain.

It's entirely redundant to say that he'll be our captain until he's not our captain.

You could have said "sole captain" and it would have been necessary, but essentially what you've said is "He is until he isn't."

Co captaincy is a concept that should be consigned to 80’s management schools and grant Thomas coached/managed/controlled clubs. Pick the best captain and give him the job. Pick a successor and make him Vice captain. No need for a Deputy Vice Captain. Teach all you players about personal and team leadership by all means but let the leaders lead.

For my money Buckley should now be captain while he continues to play. After that I don’t know. The next best options will be too old by then. Hopefully someone will emerge. We actually lack natural leaders IMO. It’s one of the reasons we are soft.

No, most clubs have a dozen leaders who don’t lead anyone. It’s just a title because it’s made just a title. Giving every man and his dog a title is half the reason. They aren’t kids who all need encouragement to turn up next week. They are me paid a truck load of money to win premierships and when they don’t they have failed.

A co-captain is not a captain. They are two different things. You are either one or the other.
