Sat around with a couple of mates pondering what IF Matty Egan hadn't of been cruelly taken away from us and had of been able to play in 2007 - 2009....

1. What position would of Harry played
2. How would have the team line up been different

If Egan hadn't had such a serious injury i doubt we would have even drafted Harry.

I also doubt he would have been drafted but lets say Egan miraclously recovered at the start of 08 I think Harry would have played in Milburn or Harley's spot throughout the season or in the grandfinal in S.J spot.

Yeah i agree with that has been said. Harry was drafted to fill the void left by Egan's injury. If he was never injured then we never would have drafted him as we would of had to need to.

We took three talls in 07 and the consensus on here, keeping in mind we had no idea about the extent of Egan's injury, was that we'd go with one of Rance, Pears, Myer or Collier depending who fell. The only reason Taylor's name wasn't on the radar was because he'd played WAFL and gone to a state screening rather than draft camp.

With the benefit of knowing what the recruiting team would have known then - he'd played an outstanding season in the WAFL at both ends of the ground, had excellent results at the state screening (IIRC was later described as clearly the best out of all the state screenings, not just the WA one), had excellent disposal and decision making in addition to his size and would surely have come across to the recruiters as an extremely mature and intelligent bloke. I don't think it's outlandish to suggest that, regardless of Egan's injury, the recruiting staff would have sat down and seen that at Pick #17 Taylor was clearly the best KPP available.

Where would he have played? Quite possibly at CHF, IIRC he'd done it in the WAFL and probably would have been a better option than both Lonergan and Hawkins.

Yeah it's not outlandish to think that we would have recruited him anyway. We've got a record of giving older blokes or blokes that don't fit the usual mould a second chance - Mumford, Egan, Stokes spring to mind. Even Nathan Ablett when you think about it.
