agree. He can kick and mark, he just cant jump.

wish we could play steve in another position, but his abit slow...

oh well, thats life

lucky we have alot of good young talls, who will only get better

Jumping is not his only problem.

The guy doesn't lift his arms when in the ruck contest.

How the hell can he expect to win a tap out when he doesn't even lift his arms. He is so fustrating to watch. Its amazing that he actually made it through the system. A ruckman that doesn't lift his arms?? What next, a full forward who doesn't kick?

I'm fed up with seeing this dud continuously get slaughtered in the ruck, time and time again.

Get rid of the dud, he's a waste of space!

And while we're at it, get rid of O'bree, another dud thats two slow, and is there anyone in the league that has a higher clanger count.

The reason for Steve McKee not able to jump in the ruck, is because as soon as he arrived at Victoria Park, he was developed to be a ruckkman to use his bbody strength in Ruck contests including Centre Bounces.

In 2002 his season was great, really showed that he had improved and his game in the Qualifying Final against Matthew Primus, was his best ever. Really shut down the close to All-Australian Ruckman.

In 2003, new rules were allowed, Being that a ruckman has to jump at Centre Bounce ball ups and has to have a run up, or something like that.

Steve McKee played against Brisbane in Round 3 and found it a nightmare, Free Kicks against him and couldn't win the ruck. So that questioned his ability to play as a ruckman.

His speed is not quick but his over head marking was a treat and took 8 marks, 3 being contested.

I have to say, It was great for the 'fall-over' count to be up and running and not only that, it was ticking over.

But he has leapt before. I have got a picture of him taking a 'huge speccie' from a paper in 1998, in Richmond colours, great grab.

Perhaps he found it a nightmare because he was playing for Willy?

At least Mckee's still playing and has given you guys some decent games. Look at Clinton King. Absolute dud.

To be honest, In my theory,

Steve McKee has had limited opportunities as a RUCKMAN at the Senior Level, so that is why he is better around the ground for a ruckman not so mobile.

He got picked up from Myrtleford for his athletic ability, :D wonder what Robert Walls was thinking, well, when you look at him now.

Was that the biggest wasted draft pick ever???

Danny Roach - picked up at no.7 and look at his career. Great One match wonder, 1 game for 1 stat (a tackle)

:D
