If ...... was ...... Collingwood..

It never ceases to amaze and consequently annoy the hell out me when footy "stories" become headlines and blown out of all proportion because they involve Collingwood. I get that it generates sales because of the love/hate and enormity of Collingwood as a football club but the hypocrisy of opposition supporters (and some of our own) in using these stories to attack when similar stories at other clubs are basically ignored does my head in.

E.g.: If Talia was a Collingwood player the Herald Scum would still be crucifying him and Collingwood. It would be all about the "club culture". Opposition supporters would be lining up and the usual suspects of the Collingwood BF forums would be launching into their own too.

E.g.: If Bradley Hill was seen meeting with Collingwood there would outrage-inducing headlines about a contracted player meeting mid-season with an opposition club. Instead, we get "What would Hawthorn want for him?"

Didn't you read the headline that was supposidly about the Talia case: "Swan caught with Cocaine"
Caro couldn't have been prouder if she'd written it herself.
Why didn't it say "Talia caught with Cocaine?" or SYDNEY SWAN caught..? Nup, lets let the Pies supporters have to read it to find out its not about Swanny!

Nah...when you can link Collingwood to anything...the media will do it.

Collingwood sells.

If we can go and find a nice premiership.
Then who cares what they write.

Every crap media outlet in the world does that (so most of them)... clickbait

My first thought,"aw heck Swannie, what the...."

After last nights game, the Western Bulldogs have some more very serious injury problems, watch the media come out and use it as a legitimate reason if they fall off the pace between now and season's end.
(Even some posters on this board, who refuse to acknowledge it impacted on our year, will claim it is a legitimate reason for the Dogs)

Injuries have definitely impacted on our season, which makes the loss on Friday all the more disappointing, given we selected one of our strongest line ups for the year.

Yes, but adding Elliott, Scharenberg, Ramsay and Swan may have put us in front when we got within 16 points and IMV, would have produced other wins earlier in the year. I am not suggesting it is the sole reason, but it is a pretty big contributing factor

It will be for the Dogs too, and even this morning the media are ramping up the "poor Dogs, so many injuries....." but they didn't for us, why was that?

There is a difference between strongest line ups on paper and in reality. There were a few that had a night to forget . Agree it was very disappointing that some didn’t live up to the expectation or even came close to it.
Whether that is coach or player or injury niggle or end of season blues, that is such a toxic discussion right now, not even going near it.

This is what I'm talking about, the media bias is staggering at times

And if there is a footy god, @westernbulldogs deserve change of luck. Would love to see them finish off season well for Bevo and win a final
Nothing wrong with that.
Be nice for them as a club to win a final.
I understand your point however, I don't need any sympathy from the media, (and they won't give it as it won't sell).
We need to become a club, (like Hawks) that just gets on with it.
To quote Eddie "I am happy to be judged by my record on what I do"

Agree, nothing wrong with it at all, its the bias that is the interesting thing (and the point of the thread)
Peter Moore has talked about it at length many times

It's been the same for what has been the biggest fall down an AFL ladder in history - Freo. Can you imagine the shreds that would be torn off Buckley if Collingwood had suffered that fate? Yet everyone acknowledges the Freo injuries and their impact but bring our injuries up and they become "excuses" rather than reasons.

Difference is that Freo is run by an experienced coach so it must be the players.

Take 1 game out of 2011 its a 2 year dynasty...
But we lost only three games that year, each time to the same team, Geelong.
Hence we were clearly the second best team that year.
Pity

We have not had even the beginnings of a settled side for near 2 full seasons due to injury.
Even on the rare occasion we have been able to field a "near" full strength side (twice?) it has not been the same "near" full strength side.

I see the persecution complexes are coming to the fore in this thread. I mean seriously cry me a river a good side gets on with the job, takes shit like injuries and staff moving on in their stride. I think most in here need to sip on some concrete and harden the **** up!!
