I'm backing Johnno...are you???

Are you kidding? Johnno is THE Champion player of our time! He will play this weekend whatever you think. If we win, he WILL play again next week....and if we win then he WILL play in the GF. Even on one leg he will play his heart out and I'm tipping that will be better than some of the guys in our team. I will be there to support him and I hope the rest of the team pull their fingers out and get him over the line. He deserves everything and even if it means that we lose....bad luck, at least we give him this honour.
Go Dogs, good luck Johnno! Thanks for all the great memories.

He played on one leg last week and was an absolute joke.

Thanks for the memories indeed, cause thats all he gives us at the moment.

Should not be playing.

So, there are a lot of supporters on this forum who happily accept crap play from Johnson. You disgust me.

I don't accept the crap that Johnson has dished out lately. He does not deserve a game. Shame on you people for accepting it.

I want the side to win, I want the side to be selected on merit. I want the other players in the side to be given the best possible chance.

I hope Johnson does play well this week. But it is only hope, it is not an expectation, the expectation is that he will dish up more crap and debilitate the side again, like he has done for the last few months.

What he said.

This club gets run like a benevolent society for certain players which could be a big reason we don't win big games.

You don't win big games you don't win flags.

He has been poor lately, but there are a lot who have been worse. Why all the attention on him and not the others. You know why? Because he is an out and out champion of this club who has performed at a level only equalled by about 3 others who have pulled on the red white and blue.

How about all the people with short memories pay some attention to the much worse games last week of Hahn, Addison, Gilbee, Eagleton, Gia instead of potting our club captain. I know if i was playing this week i would get my left ball to play with a guy like him rather than bring in a squib like Hill to replace him.

I would rather see someone play there first game than an injured Johno play again.I actualy felt embarrased for him and the club when he had the press conference . Oh im finished but ill play the season out is bloody stupid.

Hooper or Jones for a start.

Or throw Tiller forward, or Lake forward, play Murphy forward and back....pretty much anyone but a quarter fit 30 something whose body is gone.

Hooper may very well be coming in for Higgins. Tiller is more injury prone and less mobile than Johnno and Jones won't get a touch and to be honest I wouldn't want him to (did you watch his game against Essendon). Any more suggestions. Would you like Bowden or Wiggins to come out of retirement? How about we play Eddie Prato?

I don't think people get it. We have injuries! Callan Ward, Brian Lake, Ryan Griffen, Shaun Higgins, Easton Wood should not be playing and are injured, but they will because we have nothing else.

Gilbee, Gia, Hahn, Eagleton, Shaggy and Minson have been consistently worse than Johnson for the last 6 weeks especially the Collingwood final, yet they get a free pass. At least Brad plays with passion, if you watch his first contest on Saturday night, he went in so hard he knocked down 2 Collingwood players.

You're forgetting Jarrad Grant. Worst game I've seen by a Bulldogs player in a final ever. At least Hahn kicked a goal.

Now that the decision has been made, we should back him and the team.

It might well mean that this gets the team switched on again.

If we get through this next game, and it transpires that Johnno isn't 100% fit - then he should not play in the prelim.

Didn't expect him to kick a bag but his complete lack of a contest and sheer timidity made Josh Hill look like Liam Picken.

Expect a lot better this week.

Yeah fair enough. Kicking a bag the week before probably made him a little overconfident also. He didn't work hard enough. I also expect great things from young Merlin.

Play Jones ahead of BJ, he chases and harasses even if he doesn't mark.

BJ can't remember the last time he laid a tackle, or kept his feet in a contest.

Play Hooper as a crumbing small forward to play front and centre when BBB, Grant and Jones bring the ball to ground.

These options are better than a 30 something at 25% fitness who gives us absolutely nothing.

Nothing.

But no lets crap on about how great a legend BJ is etc and how he deserves a send off game when he has just clogged up our list this year.

We are one game from a Prelim and the attitude of this club is similar to a club who cant play finals playing a game in Round 22 and saying goodbye to a great servant to the club.

I will be at the game and will be cheering for Johnno and the boys but the fact is that there is probably no other club in the league that would be playing someone so obviously underdone, injured and out of form.

Tyson Edwards and Simon Goodwin were racking up 30 disposals a game when the club retired them because it was time to go and the Crows are a PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATION.

Firstly he was actually in the top 10 in tackling against the Pies and apart from Gia he was our highest tackling forward. I was going to go further than this but you know what. Stuff it. You've obviously made up your mind and there is nothing I can say that will make a difference. I can only state that you are wrong. And Brad was not even in our bottom ten worst performers last weekend. Also your replacement ideas are pretty crappy to be honest, especially when you consider how badly Grant (didn't even lay a tackle) played in his first final you want to bring in two first gamers. Yeah, that's the answer:rolleyes:.

Firstly he was actually in the top 10 in tackling against the Pies.

If you are going to use stats get the facts. Because you look like a fool. Like most of the Johnson must play brigade at the moment.

He Ranked EQUAL 11th with 2 CHAMPION tackles.
Nathan Eagleton and Gia ranked equal third with 5 tackles each.
When you look at the tackles alone he had his but kicked by 2 weakest tacklers know in history.

Johnson also got 12 kicks and 5 handballs. Nearly all of them were ineffective due to the fact that he was so slow and usually falling over in the process. While Johnson is on the ground Grant ends up contending with 2 opponents.

You also compare a champion of the game to a first year player in Grant. Grant should expect that Johnson can at least account for his own man. Instead the young players are getting nothing from the experienced captain. Every time they look up they see a guy that should not be playing and struggles to walk heading toward the bench.

Unrecorded stats.
How many times did Grant have to deal with more than one player because Johnson had fallen over or was heading off the ground, or put the rest of the team under pressure due to limited rotation opportunities because Johnson can only embarrass himself for 50% of the game while he is actually on the ground? These stats are not recorded.

He has done more harm than good on the field this year. I have loved to watch the champion in the past but has not deserved to play in the finals on any sort of form this year. Yesterday Eade was telling the media that Hooper should have played a couple of games this year. Why wasn't he played? Lack of opportunities? No Shyte!

Yes, like the vast majority of people who watch football in this country I have made up my mind on BJ.

Take off your rose coloured glasses mate, he rarely takes marks when he has any pressure applied, he doesn't tackle, falls over in nearly every contest and can't run. His disposals are also pretty ordinary as well, putting people under pressure with bad kicks and handballs.

If this wasn't BJ would you still be saying that he deserves a game?

Come on mate, you can't say that, this is Johnno we are talking about here.

Its time for the club to get back into running it like a business and hardening the f**k up. With piss poor decisions that have affected the on field success, it hurts the club at every level, including the bottom dollar. The club will struggle to see out the next decade if something doesnt change now.

Noone will or should ever question the loyalty that Johson brought to the club through his career. Hes been a champion through and through. He's retiring this year and enough is enough. The argument of playing him for the remaining finals games is all but a moot point beyond arguing. The dogs dont have a team strong and fit enough to go head to head with Geelong, Collingwoblles or St.Kilda.

Play him and give him the sendoff he deserves, but from here on, no player should ever be selected on the basis of favouritism because of what they did in the past.. Live in the present and build for the future.

If you dont, prepare for more failure.

...who finished outside the eight:rolleyes:

Do any of you REALLY know if Johnno is badly injured???? Johnno has always run around like he was born without hamstrings and always looks like he is limping. Always falls over. Never been the greatest kick. He's played over 350 games. If Johnno's not right come Saturday night, he won't play, otherwise get the &%$# over it and support him and the team or I'll be sending Barry around.

He is injured, but the point is that the point he is playing whilst injured is to try and help the team. He is not playing with a stuffed achilles because he is getting paid more, or he is bored and has nothing to do. He is doing it because he is the captain and he feels the responsibility of leading the team.

I was watching the pre game warm up against the Carlton game. The rest of the team were warming up and doing the run throughs. Johnno was on his own hobbling(like a grandfather) to the centre. All he could was hobble, he couldn't do any of the pre game warm ups. 30 minutes later he ran out on to the ground with the team. So I assume he had been jabbed in that time, and also jabbed at half time. At the end of the game when the effects of the jabs wore off, he looked a wreck.

The point is that he is putting his body through so much pain and strain for the sake of our football club. At least be grateful for that part of it. If he is not able to contribute then it is the coach and the MC to rule him out. But to Johnno, he is wanting to lead his boys into the game so he will do whatever is necessary to to his body, to be able to play the game. That takes courage, guts and selflessness, not selfishness like a lot of people are suggesting.

Fair enough the debate about whether to play him or not. But I just wish he would get commended for his motivation to play through injury and get due recognition for his attempts to help the team, rather than be constantly bagged.

You can spin this however you want but some on here have a very irrational dislike for Johnno and simply don't want him to play without positing a viable alternative. And this complete crap about Grant having to contend with two player is just that, crap (also can you explain to me why apparently playing on two men makes you unable to lay a single tackle). The kid was barely in the contest but I put that down to being overawed by the occasion. And before you go calling people fools I hardly made a big mistake with the stat as I only miscounted by one.
