I feel like the goalposts have been shifted and no one has been told of this. In 2017, we finished the home and away season in 2nd place and played Richmond at the MCG in the QF. In 2019 we finished the home and away season in 1st and played Collingwood at the MCG in the QF. Now reading the news in 2020, if we finish higher than Brisbane we have the opportunity to not only move the game from the Gabba but actually move it to another state (SA). Maybe things have changed.

After all, the AFL would never do anything to manipulate circumstances to try to achieve their preferred outcome. Surely you only have to look at the MRO determinations over the last few weeks to see that...

Club has already confirmed that, should we earn the right to choose, we'll be opting to play all our finals in Queensland, whether at the Gabba or Metricon.

Great decision, and leaves me confident that the mindset is right about this upcoming finals series.

I'm not saying that we should fly to SA to play our final. I agree that would be ludicrous! I was just pointing out that it was an option and that playing at KP was not in the past.

I think we'll request the GABBA for every home final (can we request venues for away finals, or is that just a MCG tenant perk?). The boys are used to the 1hr drive up the highway to the G, so this will be no different for them.

The other thing to remember in all this is that in past years the AFLs focus has been about maximizing crowd attendance in finals - guess who gets the money from finals tickets...

Not so sure that's high on the agenda of things this year though - if the AFL was wanting to maximise finals crowds they would have created a finals hub in WA with all matches to be played in WA, especially as the state premier said they could have a packed crowd for the GF

Considering how this season's played out, think we need to stop comparing decisions being made this year with those from past seasons, because it's not being operated under the same conditions
