Hi, Tigerbelly here.
1st post so I will introduce myself and my RFC history.
Born 1959 to Melbourne FC supporters. By the time I was 6 or so sick of failure and the fact Dad never went to the footy. He had a mate Max who used to go who followed Tigers so the love of my life began. Immediately it had rewards, I would meet my Dad at the end of the street after work and join him for drinks at the Rosstown Hotel, Max would often meet and I would be able to earn extra Raspberries by standing on the bar and giving a rendition of Tigerland ...... ah sweet memories.
Anyway forward we go to 1967, finals tickets were sold in blocks after queuing up at the G, luckily my Dad being the understanding type particularly after a spell at the Rosstown agreed to my request to go in and line up.
I got to the MCG and the coppers saw me wandering round and asked what I was doing, " I`m here to get finals tickets", who with, me! Well they were surprised and teamed me up with a group of Uni students who were all Carlton supporters and I got my tickets. The students were great and liked me until the last quarter of the Prelim + then came the cats. Love history. The years continued on "The Golden Years", the great Royce Hart, Ian Stewart, Billy Barrett, Dick Clay , Francis Bourke, etc etc etc. The picture in the Sun again queuing for tickets this time as a 13 year old at Punt Road in 73.
The final bit of glory was 1980, went to the game record GF winning margin at time, 80 points followed by celebrations which ended in Robs Restaurant
in Waverley, still on the table with a more modern tune.
Kevin Bartlett what a star
doo dar doo dar
gotta be the best by far
doo dar doo dar day
kicks em in the night
kicks em in the day
Kevin Bartlett what a star
doo dar doo dar day.
Well I like the rest of you have been in the doldrums since then but it`s for we the Richmond Football Club to reclaim our rightful position at the top of the tree. I like many of you am sick of our lack of success and am desperately wanting to see live a further premiership success to add to the five I have had the privilege to see so far.
Looking forward to a good year in 2008
Thank god footys back
Lets go guys
Eat em Alive Tigers PS: The song worked for me
