As mentioned in the training report from monday, i saw Steven Icke and Wayne Hughes showing some1 around our training facilities and taking him into our club change rooms. i wasnt sure who it was, but now having look at a photo of him im pretty sure it was him.

has been delisted by Freo because of inconsistant form due of injury.

what do you guys think???

I actually heard rumors that it was someone from Freo.

Dunn ws very highly rated back in the 03 draft (top 10 pick) but has struggled since with injury playing a large part.

Hughes was probably the one who picked him.

He obviously had/has some talent but I haven't seen much of him play so I am willing to back the judgements of the recruiting department in this matter.

I heard it was Father Christmas.Even though we have had some presents delivered already ie Judd, we wanted to make sure with the draft coming on that the Chubby Old Fella knew that Princes Park and not the G or Telstra was the Blues home.

I dont recall seeing that much of him....what type of players is he?

184cm hard at it, running midfielder.

Got this from Burgo's phantom draft in 03:

5. Melbourne – Ryley Dunn
(Murray Bushrangers) 7 October 1985, 183.8cm, 82.6kg

"With Cooney, Walker, Sylvia and Fay certain to opening the batting in the National AFL draft, the first real uncertainty of the meeting will be the Demons’ second selection at No.5. The Demons are believed to have mulled over Tenace and Calder Cannons’ duo Brock McLean and David Trotter, but Dunn looks to have got the nod and it’s not hard to see why. He entered the 2003 season as one of the most sought after youngsters in the country after gaining All-Australian selection in 2002, following the National AFL under 18 championships. Dunn made it back-to-back honours in 2003 after another fine carnival for Vic Country. A versatile hard-at-the-ball player, who doesn’t shirk in the contests, Dunn can play in the midfield, down back or up forward. He also co-captained the Bushrangers and Vic Country this year. "

10 - Ryley Dunn (Murray Bushrangers) 18, 184cms, 83kgs
Medium forward/defender who is tough in a contest and has clean hands. Represented Vic Country at the 2002 and 2003 national under-18 titles and won All-Australian honors each year.

Sounds alright to me. But his 4 games he played not including the one where he got injured against Geelong, show that he struggled.

V Carlton - 6 Disposals 4 Tackles 1 FF
V Port Adelaide - 7 Disposals 3 Tackles 1 FF
V St Kilda - 5 Disposals 2 Marks 2 Tackles 1 FF
V Sydney - 4 Disposals 2 Marks 2 Tackles

His still only 22 which is positive but i would rather go for someone who has established himself slightly more and has had a bit of extra experience since that is what we are lacking.

Ryley Dunn (born October 7, 1985 in Kyabram, Victoria[citation needed]) is a former midfielder or defender for the Fremantle Dockers. He was drafted to Fremantle in the 2003 AFL Draft at selection 10, which was traded by Hawthorn Football Club in return for Trent Croad. As a junior he played for the Murray Bushrangers in country Victoria he was twice named All-Australian at under-18 level.
Dunn immediately made his debut in Round 1 2004 against Carlton. However he only played 1 more game for the year due to collarbone, knee and hamstring injuries. 2005 wasn't any more productive, with only a further 2 AFL games.
When not selected for Fremantle or injured, Dunn plays for the East Fremantle Football Club in the WAFL.
Despite the many injuries, in mid 2005 he extended his contract with Fremantle to the end of the 2008 season.
Ryley was delisted on October 22, 2007

I've seen him play for east freo a number of times and he really couldn't get near it. He looked great in the U18's but since going to the dockers he's battled injury to the point where he looked a little doughy and doesn't move well. Right now he's not AFL quality, I guess his future depends on how much his form is down to injury and what his prospects of staying injury free in future are.

We've been down this road before with Johnson and Harford who were slow ballwinners.

How did they go?

It's not like we're desperate for a slowish ball winner when we have Carrazzo, Blackwell, Bentick and Hadley in our best 25 to 30 players.

I hope we draft a kid instead of Dunn in the national draft.

100% spot on. gives us nothing we dont have already in spades IMO.

65 – CARLTON – PASS
In recent days, Carlton has been linked to former Fremantle midfielder Ryley Dunn. It was believed Dunn was a chance to be taken with the club's final pick (No.65) in this draft, but it is now understood Carlton may have an uncontracted player in its sights. Therefore the Blues are now likely to hold over this selection for the pre-season draft. Dunn, who played five AFL matches for Fremantle in four injury-marred seasons, including round 22 this year, may still be a rookie prospect for Carlton or another club.
