I know I probably shouldn't look back, however wasn't Eade available at the same time as Wallace as a coach? Did Richmond ever consider him at the time? Looking at the current talent at The Bulldogs perhaps we made a coach "drafting" mistake.

Eade was available. I said to anyone who'd listen we should get him ahead of Wallace, but Richmond had their sights on Wallace. Didn't interview anyone else, didn't think about anyone else, didn't make a list of criteria for what they wanted in a coach, just said, "Hey Terry, here's a few mil and five years. Pleeaassee take it!"

I'm quite sure eade interviewed for the richmond job as well.

Any one remember Peter Rhodes , I'd give my left nut to walk into a club that Peter Rhodes had put 2 years into other than a club Spud Frawley had put 5 years into.

Eade is a good Coach but he was shown up by Paul Roos and Peter Rhodes did a great thankless job with the kids before Eade got there.

I'm not overly a Wallace fan but he inherited the worst list and culture in the history of football

Not true. Eade dismissed the Richmond coaching job pretty much straight away. History has vindicated his decision.

Partially true.

Eade didn't want the Tigers job because he knew that there are big expectations from the club and fans. We are hungry for flags, not just making finals

Bulldogs on the other hand are happy with the occasional finals appearance. All Eade needs to do is take them as far as a prelim and they'll think he's a genius.

Well done to TW for taking on the toughest gig in football and bringing in a thorough, well constructed plan to take the Tigers back to the top:thumbsu:

I don't think that's entirely true.

I remember he signed right after the Bulldogs interview. He said that the Bulldogs offered him a really good contract, he was interested in taking on a team that needed alot of work. Furthermore he said he wasn't going to bargain with clubs and pick and choose/wait around and hope. He just took the first good deal that came along.

No doubt Richmond had its sights set on Wallace and Eade wasn't going to hang around and hope we chose him.

Mind you, the Bulldogs have the recruiting staff that drafted the likes of Voss, Black, Lappin, Scott's etc. to the Lions.

Not true.

Eade publically expressed interest in the Richmond job and was interviewed. He took the Dogs job only after we made Wallace our number one choice and were publically fighting it out with the Hawks to get him.

Well said.

The Dogs have absolutely no interest in winning the flag this year.

They are going out of their way to play a style of footy that ensures they can only make it as far as a prelim.

Well done Peter Sassegum for being the first to bring this to the attention of Richmond supporters

Wallace took over the worst list in the competition, the age brackets between the old and young was massive, we have barely any players in the 23-27 age bracket which Wallace talks about so often. This is why we need to wait til 2011.

23-27 is the age bracket of the Cats, Hawks and Doggies core players.

Would not have made a hell of a lot of difference IMO.
Wallace & Eade have essentially the same game plan & run like the clappers with the ball, small to medium sized player strategy.
Doggies list had a better mix of more mature players and were 1 -2 years ahead of us after bottoming out.
Happier with TW still I think. Never liked Eade.

Wallace clearly said at the time he took the job that the Tigers list was more advanced out of all the available clubs.

Hence the reason why he took the rebuild approach he did in 05 and 06. Nobody could have predicted how quickly certain players were going to fall away

Well done to TW and the recruiting staff for recognizing the issues early, and taking steps to remedy them :thumbsu:
