From the videos I've seen of inFamous, it looks very polished and promising, I do 'sorta' have a gripe though, the power. I have no problem with the electricity but it doesn't really feel like the main character is a Superhero... This is hard to explain but the electricity doesn't seem 'powerful' or feel like an impact, it reminds me of the Force Unleashed electricity, I mean, it just looks... light as opposed to heavy, which in my opinion would work well in a polished enviroment but I haven't given up hope, there are supposed to be more powers to gain.

I just hope the bosses aren't repetitive, in that Gamespot video, it looked like the Boss was a big troll robot walking around and from past gaming history, I get an idea it's a reeeeally simple boss while I prefer twists and certain ways to kill them, but what would I know.

I think that it is basically becuase he is in a way not really a 'superhero' basically he is just a normal guy who get's an amazing power and then either chooses to be a bad guy with it, or save the city with his power, I mean they are going for the 'superhero' effect, but it is a 'superhero' without being a 'superhero', and you do have to remember you will be seeing many videos that are at the start and most basic of his powers, I'm sure it will get to a real huge stage towards the end.

I actually praise them for going for a power that is quite outside the box, it isn't something that you normally see in a game, it isn't the cliche' super strength, flying ability, fast running, etc. etc. you would expect to see, not that some of those wouldn't be cool in some games, but they are tending to be a fair bit cliche when you think of 'superheroes'.

In that Q&A it was stated there will be plenty of different enemies, I'd imagine that will relate to bosses(And honestly, who shows the different array of bosses before the game is out, that ruins the whole "WOW BOSS" effect).

WATCH THE NEW inFAMOUS TRAILER NOW
I think the people around the office are starting to worry about me…

That’s okay, it’s good for them to think the producer is a little nuts I think… In a sort of twisted way I really enjoy the final crunch of game production. We are working a ton, and of course miss our families and lives, but to me it feels like the best part of the project, and I don’t think I’m alone in that sense… What can I say? We’re workin’ hard and it really shows in the game. The detail work, the polish, the bug fixing — it all has a massive effect on the end experience… But while we’re feeling good, we’re also a long way from that release disc… Gotta keep grinding….

So okay, enough babble… You’re here to see a new inFamous trailer, not listen to me gaze at my navel, so let’s get on with it, and I’ll give you some thoughts and tidbits….

The FX and details on the powers are a continued source of work and polish, and if you look closely at the piece, you’ll see Cole deployed his Polarity Wall shield, something we’ve not shown before… Yet another power for his arsenal!

Probably time for me to get back to the electron mine… Status meeting in 12 minutes and I’m behind on all the stuff I was supposed to be doing instead of writing blog posts :-D. Talk to you more when we get close to the end…

dunno about this game. nothing has really made me go "wow". yeh it looks pretty, but the gameplay appears a bit meh. looks like a crackdown-TFU mix = Rental.

IGN have their preview of the Karma System up now. Sounds like lots of fun, looking forward to this.
Looks fantastic, and finally looks like a game that will take advantage of the good guy/bad guy element to games and how they effect everything, also the different types of powers based on that makes it even better, not to mention adds replayability, I'll definetly be playing through it 2 or even 3 times.

Many of you may be wondering when we plan to announce the release date for inFamous. Well today, we have a little surprise for you….the release month is no longer June. Now wait, I know what you’re thinking…inFamous is NOT delayed, in fact, the guys up at Sucker Punch have been working so hard that the game will be releasing in the U.S. on May 26!

Worldwide releases are standard now, so I'm assuming we'll also be seeing it around May 26th too. Here's 2 more hands on impressions from Telegraph and Giant Bomb.

InFamous is looking great. US pre-orders from certain retailers get early demo access, May 7th, with a free demo for everybody available May 21st. Hopefully the Aussie store will have one up early anyway without the need for pre-ordering.

Haha yes this is perfect.

This game has been pushed forward to get the leading edge on Prototype.

I went in today at EB and pre ordered the special edition of inFAMOUS.

That's fantastic news, obviously were ahead of where they thought they would be, here's hoping for a worldwide release now.

More inFAMOUS impressions, just keeps looking better and better.:)

inFAMOUS IMPRESSIONS
Typical, isn't it. You wait years for a superhero-tinged open-world game and then two come swinging from the rafters in tandem. Sony and Sucker Punch are pitting the launch of inFamous precariously close to that of Activision's superficially similar Prototype, but from an extended hands-on with the game it seems that Sucker Punch's game has the brain and brawn to win out in this particular comic-book duel.

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/800/800208/img_6650821.htmlCole's an intriguing lead, lizard-like in his movements.

Greg has already voiced his excitement for the game on numerous occasions, and having now witnessed inFamous first hand it's an enthusiasm we whole-heartedly share – this is an action game with all the trappings of a top-tier first-party Sony title, and it's one of the finest propositions for the PlayStation 3 for the traditionally barren summer months. While Greg's previews have nailed the details of inFamous, being able to play it from the comfort of our own games room has allowed some of the finer points of Sucker Punch's PlayStation 3 debut to sink in.

While the comparisons to Prototype will continue long after both games are released this summer, the most pertinent reference points lie elsewhere. Crackdown's an obvious one – the Empire City of inFamous shares the verticality of Realtime Worlds' Pacific City, and again scaling the heights proves one of the game's most thrilling pleasures. Great sandbox games often deliver their best moments outside of the demands of the main quest and inFamous looks no different in this respect, with the pull of exploration strengthened by the possibilities of Cole's unique abilities.

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/800/800208/img_6650819.htmlCole's electrical powers are never short of spectacular.

Roof-top expeditions are well served by some robust mechanics – no surprise given Sucker Punch's heritage with the Sly Cooper games – with the main protagonist Cole proving suitably sticky when it comes to attaching himself to the sides of buildings and propelling himself from lampposts. While there's a certain amount of auto alignment aiding Cole's acrobatics, they do little to detract from the feeling of vertigo engendered by teetering atop some of the city's peaks.

And what a city it is; Empire City is a teeming urban sprawl that finds itself rapidly slipping towards dystopian chaos. Though the missions available to us in the early code are pulled from various parts of Cole's campaign, it's clear that his surroundings reflect the story they frame, with the bleached-out, sun-kissed city of the tutorial giving way to foreboding dark skies and swelling storms later in the game.

The draw distance seems generous throughout.

Indeed, it seems that Empire City also acts as a barometer of the player's character, with an evil Cole met with a metropolis that noticeably cowers at his presence. A visualisation of the karma system that underlies Cole's actions, it's just one level of feedback on where our hero's heart lies: much like the anonymous hero of Fable, his morality is also played out on his skin, with the evil Cole we see at one point heavily scarred with rippling red veins.

Whether the morality system is delivered organically or through binary choices will be integral to the success of the game's story, but unfortunately that's not something we can ascertain from the scattershot selection of missions we've seen to date. It's certainly setting its sights high, with the action prefaced by weighty citations: 'The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary' says one particular passage pulled from the works of Conrad, 'men are quite capable of every wickedness.' If Cole's player-determined voyage can live up to Sucker Punch's literary allusions, it could be quite some tale.

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/800/800208/img_6650825.htmlIt wouldn't be a superhero game without a helping of bosses.

Cole's story is impeccably presented, as stylised animated cut-scenes segue harmoniously with the action. Details are scant and our time with the code raised more questions than answers as we were rapidly transported between disparate parts of Cole's chronicle, but the few crumbs thrown our way suggest a game that's thick on intrigue and leans heavily upon its comic book inspirations. Thankfully, our look at the full picture is drawing ever closer – expect a full review in the not too distant future.

It's referring to the amount of preorders the game has.

It's either 100,000 or 500,000. If it's the same as the music industry, it's the latter.

What does Gold even mean? That it's finished in development?

Not quite Scooterb.

Going Gold relates to the games development cycle, each one has their own name, Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta then Gold.

Gold just means that the game has finished and ready to be produced and then shipped.

Source: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Gone+Gold
A game has "Gone Gold" when the final master copy has been produced at the developer and sent off for replication, packaging and shipment. The game is not yet released, but it will typically be around 2-3 weeks (sometimes less) before it begins appearing on store shelves and online pre-orders arriving at doorsteps. The term itself comes from the old practice of recordable CDs being manufactured with gold film. Hence the gold colored CD actually being the source, with no reference to copies sold as in the recording industry.

Hmm, never knew that.

What does it mean if a game goes platinum then?
That's related to sales, because it's post release.

Basically it's when a game reaches half a million sales worldwide within a year of release then it was eligible to become platinum.
