Fair to say I've had a gutful of our endless stream of injuries, which started midway through the pre-season. Our injury list has been double figures pretty much all year, which is just shocking for a team with depth issues.

So, is it just pure bad luck, or has the intense pre-season/punishing training regime part to blame? Obviously our fitness levels needed to be increased dramatically, but it seems pushing the players so hard is causing havoc too….

I'd be interested to take a closer look when the injury list is re-released during the week.

How many of the injuries we've had are training load related (e.g. "soft tissue"), and how many are impact/collision/concussion injuries? I reckon we've had a lot of the latter, but also a handful of the former.

My gut feel is that our training workload has been extremely heavy, even during the season, so injuries are a byproduct of that.

Most other clubs manage their players to get through the season, whereas we are training them very hard in preparation for 2013.

Can't remember where I heard this but that is apparently the clubs plan. Train them hard now, completely ease off training around Round 18 and for a few weeks after the season, then hit the ground running for 2013 pre-season when most other clubs will be starting from scratch.

I'll start questioning things if the same things happen next year. I think a harder training schedule has impacted on many of the players bodies, but it was a necessary thing to force them through in preparation for the future.

I know it's no excuse, but really, I think we'd actually be doing pretty damn alright at the moment if not for injuries.
