The season is over for 2007, well not officially with 2 games to go but we wont be playing any finals this year.

Guys like Black and M. Carr have been carrying injuries for quite a while now. I think we should just tell those guys to go away, have the surgery (if required) now that way they wont lose too much of the pre-season to recovery and will have the entire squad fit (barring injuries in pre-season comp) for round 1 2008.

It would also give a few guys a run who wouldnt normally have played. Guys like Dunn, Foster and Ibbotson should play the last couple of games for some experience.

Thoughts??

Agreed. I don't want to lose either of the remaining games (hate losing), but this season is over, so we should be doing what's needed to get in the best possible position for 2008 and beyond.

I'd be interested to have a look at Hadrill to see if he can still cut it in the big leagues. Or has the decision already been made to cut him loose?

Id like to see Haddrill given the chance to impress. He is a quality player when fit I just think if we give him one pre-season to get through injury free and have a crack in 2008. We cant let everyone on the list be traded/retire/delisted cos we cant fill the empty spots with draft picks.

Put everyone away that has any niggles, get them fixed now so everyone is ready for the first day of pre-season.

If we literally did that I think we would struggle to field a team.

... but Foster and Dunn in that order should get a run for sure regardless of how they play and results. Hadrill idea sounds good to me. The other one is Browne. We all know his ability and if his hammy is right then I think we should run him round and give him something to look forward to next year and if his hammy goes again, well we can call it quits on Brownie once and for all. Finally, with the season gorne, do we give Cookie his wish and leave him in for the last couple?

I really think we need to play players like Haddrill, Browne and Webster in the last game if we have even the slightest intention on keeping them. Need them to stay excited about playing AFL football, can imagine all three of those guys being fairly jaded professional football.

As well as Black and Carr, you'd want to rest Farmer's nose (Foster, Dunn and Browne could replace).

Also Grover copped a few heavy bumps, and I'm keen on Haddril being tested, and made to work really hard to prove he can get through it. If the decision has already been made on Haddril, I'd still rest Grover if needed and bring in Drum. I'd find a way of bringing in Drum anyway, perhaps for Thornton, or Solomon (not suggesting they should not be in the team, more wanting Drum to be given responsibility).

I don't see the value in playing Webster. He has had plenty of opportunity and is a handy depth player; nothing to learn by playing him.
