What's everyone done to themselves in terms of injuries and how did you manage to injure yourself?

I mainly make this thread because of my weekend. I was mucking around with mates about 4am on Sunday walking home from a big night out, and we needed to cross an oval to get to this house we were staying at and, being the drunk skunks we were, raced each other to the other end of the oval. Unfortuantely for me, the groundskeeper was doing some illegal watering overnight and left a massive sprinkler on the oval which I didn't see at all, ran into it and landed really awkwardly on the base of the sprinker.

I now have broken wrist and cuts to my face and arms - by far my worst injury ever. The next day though I found out that a distant friend of mine had done his ACL playing drunken footy at about 1am sunday so I felt a little better  He's completely shattered though!

It's the third time I've broken my wrist, the first time I did it was when I fell on gravel playing basketball and the second time I did it I was playing social footy, got pushed and fell on - you guessed it - a sprinkler. We were playing on grass but I got illegally pushed and put my hand out and my wrist smashed into a small sprinkler that was sticking out of the ground, that was 8 years ago. All 3 times it's been my right wrist.

Other than that I've only dislocated my finger twice, once in a car accident and another playing footy, and had concussion once in a car accident.

So my tally is 3 broken wrists, 2 dislocated fingers and 1 concussion. Not that big a list compared to some people I'm sure!

List your injuries :thumbsu:

I haven't had any real (Arms, Leg etc.) bad breaks or anything just broke a few fingers (about 6 times at cricket)
one of the times i broke my nuckle got hit by a cricketball on the side of my glove where theres no protection and my knuckle was crushed.

One of the weirdest was me and my mate were kicking one of those little footys that are full of foam in my house at halftime in a friday night match. Then Somehow i stubbed my toe on a table leg or something (i never found out what it was) i stumbled then looked down thinking at the worst the toe nail might be coming off but to my suprise my little toe was pointing in almost a 90 degree angle compared to the other toes.

Woke up on January 1st and had a torn lateral meniscus in my right knee. Couldn't work for two weeks.

No idea how though.

When I was just about 6, I was running but wasn't looking where I was going and I ran my knee into the corner of a brick. I needed stitches.

Currently out with both knees and a strained groin.

Groin happened two weeks ago in a marking contest, just landed weird. Rd 1, first quarter.

Right knee happened at Schoolies 04 when I was kicking the footy up to myself and turned weird and put it out. Have had troubles with it since, probably shouldn't be playing at all.

Left knee happened in a game in 06 when a big full forward landed on the bottom of my leg, twisting my knee out of place.
A year later, after doing nothing and being very careful with it, my mates were play fighting walking back from the pub.
I stood to the side so they wouldn't get me, but that just encouraged them and they tackled me to the ground, putting my knee cap out of place again.

I miss playing my best footy. Plus I lost about 10m off my kick.

Nothing serious like broken bones or dislocations.
I've had hundreds of bruises, scrapes and cuts (big and small) all over my body. Mainly from doing stupid things.
I guess you could call it an injury, i had a hernia years ago that needed an operation. No idea how i got it, just noticed it there one day.

2 broken arms - same arm
1 broken shin
1 pulled hamstring
Constant groin injury over past 2 years

only 17 yet i have had plenty of injuries throughout my life

Broken Arm- worst by a long way
twice broken the same finger:o
Torn ligaments in the shoulder- months of physio
Hamstring tear and a few strains
and a concussion

broken all the fingers and thumb on my right hand playing cricket... wicket keeping is a dodgy idea i say.. cartilage taken out of my left knee after a kick to kick on an oval jumped to take a mark and landed badly... broke my ankle playing a muck around game of basketball, jumped to take the ball, ankle twisted mid air, landed on foot sideways and ankle snapped... a few more but thats enuff painful memories for now :D

I have broken so many bones it isn't funny.

First when I was 11, broke my foot at gymnastics on the springboard.
Next broken wrist after coming off my skatebaord.
6 months later broke my other wrist when I fell off a Clydesdale I was riding bareback & it bolted.
Broke my arm when I got thrown off a brumby & it stomped on it.
Ankle playing softball at school.
Broke my wrist ice skating.
Broke my leg high jumping.
When I was a teen I was a passenger in a Combi Van, that rolled four times after being hit side on, broke my left leg in two places & my right wrist.
When I was 20, got run off the road & hit a lamp post, broke my left kneecap & my right wrist.
In Perth, got rear ended, broke my right wrist yet & my left kneecap again.
Rear ended again in Perth, only broke my wrist this time.

I think that's it, broken fingers & toes a bit, but they don't compare to the big bones.

Just a warning to people, if you are about to be rear ended, take your hands off the steering wheel, don't grip it bracing for the impact, or you'll break your wrist.

not too bad for me... done the ligaments in my ankles 3 times... once playing basketball when I was 10, once rocking out to bodyjar at the hifi bar, and once playing footy...

keep that in mind.:thumbsu:

I'm only 15 and am in just my third season of footy so I haven't had a lot happen, but last year I badly dislocated a rib by getting my arm knocked backwards very forcefully in a ruck contest. Once it got better (a good 2 months afterwards) I did it again at footy training and then a third time playing squash.

Rib injuries are absolute bitches. The first few days it really hurts to move at all, sneezing/coughing becomes torture, you can't run for at least 3 weeks and because there is no visible bandaging or strapping you don't get any sympathy for it!

Strained a nerve in my neck while tackling someone as well. That's another very impressive injury! You just walk around for a week looking like a bloody emu because you can't move or relax your neck.

Another minor thing, but right now I have 3 huge bruises on my right knee from ruck contests last week. It doesn't bother me much, but it looks damn weird.

Not to bad compared to some.

Done my right knee 3 times
Shin Splints
Broken Heel - By far the worst thing that can ever happen. Did it nearly 9 years ago and still get days when i can't walk on it.

Tripped over at school in year 6 and broke my ribs, strained some shoulder ligaments after a hip n shoulder in footy and ultimately did my ACL in my knee last year in college footy. Still shocked in the damage I did, had a slight fall, no major pain yet still needed a full reco.

How can you dislocate a rib? There's no joint to dislocate.

Don't know if dislocate is the right word (it obviously isn't like a shoulder where it comes out of a socket). Basically it is knocked out of place and then puts pressure on nerves in your back, making anything involving moving your back/torso hell.

Geez sprinklers don't like you!

Last year in May I was playing rugby for school and i clashed knees with another player- bruised ligaments, on crutches for two weeks. Missed 3 games of footy.

About 2 weeks after coming back from the bruised ligament injury, i was at footy training and was just warming down doing some kick to kick with a teammate. he kicked it to me, i dropped the mark, look down at my right pinky and it is dislocated- doctor said it was the worst finger dislocation she had seen. Missed 4 games it was so bad.

6 weeks ago i was playing teeball at school and i hit the ball and my mates were telling me to slide to first base cause they had all done it previously.
i slided really awkwardly and when i got up it felt like i had dislocated my shoulder. moved it around, heard a pop and it was sore for a week but fine. still dont know if i dislocated it or not.

so that is my injury history add a couple of cuts, bruises and twisted ankles.

This is going to sound stupid, but a couple of years ago I ran into the computer chair at home and fractured my toe.
To make it worse I had to wear a moonboot for a few weeks.
