Injuries

Swan- medial (knee) twist apparantly. Club thinks it is very minor and he could have ran back on if asked to but didn't risk it. Will need to be monitored though throughout the week.

Thomas- was suited up in the last qtr. Don't the exact injury but there seems to be something niggling him. Not what you want to see. Hopefully he was just off as a precaution, seeing as the game was shot.

Cloke- Doc Larkins seems to think he landed awkwardly and could have injured his upper groin/hamstring area. Went straight down the race in the last qtr. Again, will need to find out more as the week progresses.

Fraser- aggrevation of the PCL he injured in last year's HOF game. Seems pretty minor but was severly strapped, thus nullifying his influence. Hopefully he pulls up fine because he is one of our most important players. If he breaks down, Mick and co. need to take full responsibility for need providing him with assistance. The workload he is being asked to carry is criminal and the chop out from the hack Leroy Brown leaves alot to be desired.

Add these to the already outs in Didak, Medhurst, Davis and Rusling + JA (suspension, but back next week) and there is some cause for concern.

Also, on the Rusling front, does the club think we are idiots?

MMM got the doc to find some info out on Rus and Dawes, in particular Rus, and Perty told him that both boys played VFL and are on the cusp of selection. Now, Dawesy is playing VFL and his form has been solid so he is thereabouts but Rus? WTF is going on here, because something stinks! First Ed, saying Rus would be playing VFL and now Perty suggesting he IS playing VFL and on the cusp of senior selection.

Why?

Fraser more or less asked to play on his own. He said he prefers it. He should know his own limits.

Who are we expecting back this week against Carlton then?

Didak?
Medder?
Leon?

Do people think they will be available?

I presume that Medhurst, JA and Davis will all be back but what about Didak? We are missing him massively. He's been out for about a month now with very little said about timing of his return. Desperately need him. I thought that we really missed Beams tonight too, which is a big endorsement of the impact that he has already made on the team. Any word on his return?

The buck stops with the coach.

Fraser does not pick the team. It does not matter what he wants.

Simple fact it, he cannot carry the incredible workload he is asked to for 22 weeks. He will break-down and tonight he may well have. We will be lucky if it is just a niggle.

If Wood or Bryan "don't deserve" a game according to Mick, why the **** does Leroy Brown get one? Ditto Toovey. Ditto Corrie. Ditto Rocca.

medhurst, leon, beams should all be fit and available next week, along with bryan, wood, dawes

For mine
Out Fraser inj, Corrie, Macaffer, Brown, Toovey, Cloke Inj, Stanley
In Wood, Davis, Medhurst, Bryan, Anthony, Dawes, Beams

7 changes two forced all there though, swan is most likely out which is the only thing i can see saving stanley

Leon was only a virus so he should be back Dids has a hammy so they said a couple of weeks Medders was supposed to be close tonight so he may be back

swans injury looked pretty bad. if it was anybody else they would have been out for the year with a reco.

It is a game of attrition, its time to show what we are made of.

WHEN IS MCCARTHY back???!!

He said according to MMM Rusling played, he didn't say he did.

Medders won't get up for next week I don't think, and Didak is 50/50.
Davis will definitely be right though. I'd be surprised to see Fraser play next week.

So to sum-up, from tonight's game we could lose Swan, Fraser, Cloke and Thomas to injuries and may not regain medhurst, didak or beams in time for next week. That would mean seven of our best 22 out of action. I'd call that a wipe-out! I really hope Fev is out and that Judd, Murphy and Gibbs all contract a virus during the week.

Even if we get our small forwards back, our midfield will be decimated without Fraser, Swan and Thomas.

It just keeps getting better! It's usually around this time of year when we start racking up injuries.

F**K!

Doc Larkins said Medhurst's ankle might sideline him for another week..
Chris Bryan and Cameron Wood both in VFL best..
Bryan kicked four goals, would have been handy tonight..
Probably could use him next week aswell.. Hampson is nothing special, can rough up kreuzer who is a skinny build...

With Didak though it will be 3 weeks with is hammy comming up, is he due to miss this week too then?

Out: Fraser, Swan, Cloke (all inj) [Rocca/LBrown? Macaffer? Stanley? Corrie?]

In: Wood, Davis, Anthony [Didak? Medhurst? Cook? Bryan?]

In terms of team balance thed major changes leave us short in the ruck (just the two Browns to pitch hit with Wood and to be swing talls back and forward). Perhaps Bryan should come in to kick some goals and bullock in ruck. Extra out here would be Rocca or LBrown.

If Medhurst and/or Didak are fit, then extra outs would be Stanley and/or Macaffer.

Specifically versus Carlton, Cook may come in to do a closer run with role at the expense of either Corrie or Barham (prefer Barham's pace remains, and he is handballing a lot more now instead of the dodgy kicking, but he has played 4 games in a row and it is dependent upon his fitness levels).

On Fev? O'Brien with Maxey staying back for third man up and blocking holes. Nathan Brown can start playing up forward.

Hopefully Swan's injury is like Leigh Harding's earlier this year. Looked bad (and similar)at the time too but Harding was fine to go the following week and has played every week since. We need a stroke of luck (or ten).
