Toovey had ice on his hammy when the cameras panned to the bench. I doubt he'll play this week. Absolutely no point risking him.
Leon starts and we pick a sub from the VFL team unless some else is a bit ginger and gets the sub role. Not ideal for the promoted VFL player but I can't hink of many that deserved to be dropped.

IIRC it looked like a corkie for tooves, rather than a strain. but yeah we can afford to give him a week off.
the sub role is not being dropped, although the players rightly see it as such. whether buckley gets the gig again, or a chance to try someone new - if the weather fines up, maybe give keeffe his debut.

If Toovey is out then Buckley should replace him and Leon's position should be in danger. Unfortunately, senior players did poorly in the VFL and only Dick showed any real flair. I just wait for the Buckley haters to get into stride. Keefe probably will get a gig sometime soon when we play a team with a tall forward line.

Buckley is definitely an in for Tooves unless they decide to play Leon deeper in defence and rotate him through and bring in Brad Dick. I think Brad is still a week away and should come in on ANZAC Day, but he has shown pretty well in the VFL albeit with some hesitation going into tackles and the like. Probably not a bad team to bring Dick back in against, their back six is decimated and he might be able to snag a few at the feet of Dawes and Cloke.

I'd give Davis a role down back. He was played for 20mins against Carlton mainly up forward. While he played poorly he's been training as a defender so I think he should be given an opportunity of playing there.

Happy to rest Toovey if he is a little sore but I think Jolly needs more game time. He only played two games preseason so i think he is a little under done.Not against resting him during the season though.
Toovey out Buckley in or Mccaffer but McCaffer has to play not sub.

Yep, I think this makes 100% sense.
Give Tooves the week off, we will need him against the Bombers, and put Leon in his spot, and maybe play Harry or Heater in a more defensive role this week.
Dick is "banging down the door", he is as fit, and as strong in that shoulder as he is ever going to be, time to play him.

Give Davis a real test down defense rather then 10 minutes substitutions when the game was finished. I'd also love to see Dick play as-well but if he isn't ready no pressure needed, our team is already to packed with stars for the time-being.

I think Dick needs more time in the VFL, it's still a big jump and I think he'd be a week or two away.
Toovey being rested would be perfect for Buckley. Wouldn't mind him and Davis playing and having a midfielder as a sub just to see how things work.
Also, Caff played well in the reserves by the sounds so he'd be in contention.
