Dont think we need to change to much, Welsh is obviously gone with his hamstring injury. Would expect Dyson to come in for him and maybe Jetta to drop back if NLM is fit? Thoughts? Sheedy did mention in his press conference possibly debuting Hislop and Gumbleton within the next 2 weeks as well.

sheeds was just saying that so that our kids get a bit of publicity

gumby won't play for a while, cj and neagle are still ahead of him in the pecking order. and hislop hasn't played a game of footy in a month. with jj and campo still to come back i reckon it will be a while until we see tommy play afl. that isn't a bad thing though as there is no need to rush any of our kids.

imo if jetta was dropped it would defeat the purpose of playing him so early in the season. although he didn't get many possessions, he did his job. you can't expect him to get too many touches from playing less than half the game in the forward pocket. 3 goals in two games, what's wrong with that. if he keeps that rate up he will end up with 33 goals. even 20 goals in his debut year would be great. his pressure is also very valuable.

i reckon dyson will come in for welshy. if nlm is fit he may as well have a run for bendigo as he has only played 50 minutes of footy in the past 4 weeks. the run would do him good.

Did any of the Heff knockers notice his brilliant disposals today?

He only muffed one kick, under extreme pressure yet landed a number of very important, difficult kicks on our players chests.....

Neagle wouldn't be in front of Gumbleton at all. He did have a couple of good pre season games in the VFL but he still hasnt produced in a real match yet.

I thought he was very very good today, had limited gametime and was very good with disposals as you said and also applied some good pressure in the midfield.

Heff was quite good today in the time he had out there. There were a crucial tackle when the game was on and he did one two other nice things. He deserves a game next week.

Someone's gotta come in for Welsh and it would have to be Dyson. We need to see if this guy can play. It's his chance to stand up like Winderlich has done.

No Johns or Kep as our structure can't support them. With Laycock rotating from the ruck to the forward line and Mal, Ryder and Fletch down back we have plenty of talls to do the job.

We need to keep our runners fresh and rotating nicely off the bench.

Maybe Houli for Jetta to give him a run in the seniors and Jetta a full game in the VFL?

Nick Stevens or Scottland, Stevens had been carving it up thus far before Saturday night.

pev would tag stevens and scotland plays on the back flank. i reckon we may play monfries as a defensive forward on scotland

i wouldn't mind if heff played next week as he was good today, but it is horses for courses

i reckon leroy would be happy to continue with his role in the seniors. houli wasn't overly impressive on saturday and he would need to string a few games together to deserve selection. houli isn't really a small forward either. jetta's game has to be judged on more than just kicks and handballs

I think Heffernan should hold his spot. His tackling his magnificent, his disposal is neat and, contrary to common belief, he isn't slow. Obviously we must confirm that Lovett-Murray is fit before we rish him in, but if he is, he's the obvious replacement for Welsh. As for Dyson, right now there isn't a spot for him. There will be in due time this season, but we don't need another running midfielder. I feel we are better placed playing Leroy Jetta because, in limited game time, he can have an impact on a game, he can play forward releasing Lovett to the midfield and the more developement he gets in the seniors, the better he's going to be.

Dyson for Welsh. I worry what it would do for his confidence if Houli or Hislop was played before him. Plus Dyson is the better player at this stage.

Heff has to play. FWIW I think Carlton has just as many guys worth potentially tagging as Freo do, maybe even more - Stevens, Scotland, Simpson, Murphy and Lappin. Obviously you'd only tag 1 or 2 at a time but all can be pretty damaging.

Some good points. Houli is a midfielder/flanker and at the moment we have an abundance of them, so much so that Dyson can't get a game. Houli's game time would be solely based on giving him a go. In a forward pocket, Leroy can come on with his pace and cause a serious threat without dislodging others. The presence of Leroy with his pace and tackling ability is valuable in itself.

In my opinion, Houli isn't ready yet. His decision making isn't quite up to AFL standard yet. Plenty of time in the VFL will play a major role in developing this aspect of his game. The VFL is definately the best place to learn decision making. On the other hand, Jetta is genius like with decision making and has incredible vision. On top of that, pace, skill and a knack for kicking goals. He's pretty readymade for AFL standard.

Geez I hope you tag Lappin............waste of a tag, but go ahead.

Stevo and Murphey would be your main tags.
Pev on Stevo, who is your second tagger for Murph?

Did Fletcher injure a hammy? Sounded like it on the radio, but I didn't hear the follow up.
You guys have started really well. Will be a difficult game for us, though we always seem to rise to the occassion. I don't think you guys will run as hard into and out of our forward line, and being on the "G" will give us a little more space.

Congrats on your win today. Look forward to next Saturday. :thumbsu:

Aparantly he copped a kick in between his knee and shin, and it was in the same spot as one he copped last week. He'll be fine for next week.
