tweaked his groin again and the club wants to be careful with him as he had a major groin injury last year

Why? I would have thought Welsh and Lovett Murray would be a straight swap? Lovett will come in for Dempsey and one of JJ, Slattery or Lonergan may well be dropped. Riemers in for Slattery.

It's possible that we'll look for Welsh to come in as a direct swap, and the more I think about it, the more I think it could happen.

However, we broke down at half forward terribly last week, and I feel that it's an area the coaching staff may look to address. It's a big ask for Adam McPhee to hold down CHF, and the Lovett-Murray loss takes away the one other option at half forward that could take an overhead mark.

As for Courtney niggle, from what I've heard he came off out of precaution, and will be 100% this week.

but the problem with CJ is that he plays in defence for bendigo but when he plays for essendon it is as a forward. that can't be good for his development

It's still possible that he could play in the backline.

It would involve moving Ryder into the Ruck and playing one of Hille and Laycock as a permanent forward or it could involve Ryder moving to CHF.

Still, Ryder looked great down back last week and with that kind of form, you wouldn't be desperate to move him.

If Stanton has a few more bad games I can see him being dropped to Bendigo. He'll be given plenty of chances though as he is quite highly regarded. Hoping he shakes off his indifferent form and gets back to his best:thumbsu:

That is the last thing from happening.
Besides our spine, Lloyd, Lucas (not now), Fletcher, Michael, Stanton is the next safest person in our team, with McPhee, McVeigh and probably Davey.

Round 1 - Tagged to the shithole.
Round 2 - Worked harder than any other player on the team, with the exception of Dyson. Mistakes were made and he knows this. His skills are slowly improving but his workrate was top notch, he linked up plays, he got to every contest, he ran hard, etc, etc.

Stants will never be dropped.
It is an outrage to even contemplate it.

Yep, it pretty much means that one of Andrew Lee and Courtney Johns has to play.

Neither have earned it, but otherwise we're just not going to have enough to kick to in my opinion.

after watching vfl last week i'd have cale hooker ahead of lee.

johns had a corkie so would be doubtful

I saw the second half of the VFL, thought Hooker was good. He leads to good places.

However, he doesn't have anywhere near the body strength to fill the role we need. He'd out bodied and out marked consistently, when we really need someone who can stand and contest, and be the guy that can at least bring it to ground should we be in a desperate situation.

IN: Lovett, Welsh
OUT: NLM, Dempsey

Slatts is a quality player, don't know why you would drop him, one of the best taggers around, remember last year when he beat Kerr, Hodge, Cousins and Haselby, all very high quality players.

You seen Slatts play this season..I'll give you a clue he has been almost worst on field in all games. On form he deserves to play for Bendigo!

I've been to both games, round one he shut Simpson down, and last week no-one actually played well except Paddy.

Agreed. Can't drop just one guy from a 99 point loss.

In: Lovett, Welsh,
Out: Dempsey (inj), NLM (inj)
really want Bellchambers to play this week.
Looked really promising in the ruck last week.
Definately a keeper

didn't get to see the game. how did Pears and Hooker go? and yes, agree with Bellchambers, try a three-ruck combo against Carlton, #1 draft pick v Bellchambers, Hampson v Laycock, Hille v Cloke. Belly, JL and Hilley to thrash them

Surprisingly Pears didn't play, neither did Myers. But Hooker did very well. Was quick off the mark had a good set of hands and a good kick on the run. Thats another thing with Bellchambers as well. He is a very good kick on the run. On one occasion he passed the ball to Welsh on the lead daisy cutter like. Good signs for the future
