i feel that JUDDY may have been playing injured in the last month, because even with a tag, he knows how to get away from them to still play well.

Gotta stop trying to recruit slow paced one trick ponies like Mclean. Curnow is that sort but he's not too slow. Very dissapointing to see the way he has gone about his footy since injuring his shoulder, either he is still carrying an injury or from what it looks like he lost confidence over it and in my books that makes you a squib. No denying he has not been having a go. If Mclean makes a player I will be suprised, you just can not be that slow, you can not be the sort of player who is dead set useless in the first half of games or when he gets a knock and has to play hurt. He can not fit in with our structure and our style of pressure and zoning footy and hard spreading. Makes a weak link.

A guy who has skill and pace and is strong, especially throught the core is Touhy. He should be moulded and pushed over this preseason to become that extra genuine centerman we need. I really think this guy could be something special. He has come a long way in a very short period of time and looked very good with his short stints on the ball. I think he might be the one to step up.

I think Gibbs will step up next year and go from a flanker who gets a lot of easy touches to becoming an influential onballer next season as well.

I think Gibbs was absolutely the missing link last night. Sure we had Waite and Kreuzer out, but Waite has been out for ages, and kreuzers form has been a little dubious. Gibbs on the other hand has been involved in a lot of play, is a skilled user of the footy, and importantly kicks goals. In fact, those set shots murphy missed last night would normally have been taken by Gibbs I think. The man makes a difference.

You think long about this sort of comment, g-man? I mean, fair dinkum...

bring back bentick??
honestly tho i really rated curnow early on, hopefully he can step up and be a permanent part next year!! but i think its an area a few (murph, gibbs, robbo) have really improved in(the grunt work) and hopefully they continue to improve/be as good next year

What about travis tuck? Couldnt be any worse that mclean or curnow- curnow is almost as slow as mclean and has some of the worst skills I have ever seen. Can barely kick a drop punt.

Tuck on the other hand is big, can actualy move and kick a ball and is a good player that couldnt break into the hawks mids.

I was always impressed with him @ the hawks. And was always competing for the 1 spot with J Kennedy.

This guy would be an upgrade on both curnow and mclean- aslong as he doesnt bring any baggage.

Any 1 know what his VFL form was like this year?

Could we rookie him?

Wouldnt even be opposed to this. could actually find the ball. was a strong as any 1 over the ball. should neve have been delisted. any 1 know where he is atm?

I had to laugh post match (Sunday AM I think) when an "independent" observer called in to tell SEN that we were still too dependent on Judd.........despite him having had no impact in a 2 goal loss to the Hawks, a belting of the Dons and a 3 point loss to the WCE at home.

I'd say the opposition next year will be rethinking their strategy. We are no longer like Essendon.....beat Watson, beat Essendon.

Shutting down Judd helps, but doesn't gaurantee a win.

I think Judd and the current group need to work on stoppage setups as to how he can get some blocking. I'd like to see Robbo come from the other side of stoppages at speed and go through (legally of course) some of these guys.......maybe then they'll have some eyes for the contest rather than the man.

As our midfield matures we'll see more protection, but I think also, as Juss gets a bit older he'll push outside the contest a bit more as well.

No need to panic guys. Our current group is more than capable of getting the job done with more development.

I agree, but that won't stop us looking to further strengthen our list.
We may be throwing out a curve ball, looking as though we're after talls when it may just be the mid that we are after.

I have no doubt we will be after both, as no doubt the MC & admin will believe next year we honestly should be going forward with the belief we can win a flag, and to achieve this we need to find 2-3 external players that make that possible to address list weaknesses.

I suspect there will be no stone unturned to find another midfielder to add some further depth, and a tall forward that will provide us with the long option we are missing.

Curnow has been in the AFL system for some time, he did look good early but not convinced he can perform on a ongoing basis.

I think as Oscar matures ie stops the dummy spits and tossing rattles out of the cot, we will see a whole different Judd. As it is he is still too raw and inexperienced to be following team rules and set-ups. Patience people.

I think we need to really look at the top end of our list age wise and make sure that what is building is sustained.......but that's probably for another thread.

I just don't think we need to sell the farm at this point. We have seen improvement from Walker, Yarran, Robbo, Ellard, Henderson, Jamison to name just a few.

I would expect Laidler to be better next year. Remember this was his first full year of senior footy, and he just got better and better as the year went on. Duigan will improve, less so individually but more from a team sense.

Keep in mind how little our back six know each other or have played together......and a back 6 that knows each other inside and out is usually a hallmark of preniership sides.

Lets not seem too keen at the trade table, unless someone else is selling their farm for a ruckman - Hammer for a first rounder. :D

True, Harks, and even if we end up a better side - which is the idea after all - it still pains me to see the back of blokes who've done nothing but try their guts out for the club I love. Definitely some hurt ahead.

I'm not to up to date with anything in the vfl besides the bullants. What ever happened to Myles Sewell? Was almost certain to be drafted a few seasons ago and has just disappeared. Was he an inside mid?

I'd get Sam Reid from the Bulldogs
Had shoulder problems but is hard as a cat's head
played well again for Willy yesterday and is frenetic like Robbo

I'd like Sam Reid from Swans too!!

tuck has been pretty good in the vfl this year, appeared in the best a number of times and supposedly played pretty well in their loss on sunday. think he had a shut down role on one of williamstowns best and fairest favs and he did it well. ive always liked him as he is a running machine, an in and under type player at stoppages like his older brother and is pretty tall. "as long as he doesnt bring any baggage" well he was the first player to get three strikes on the drug policy but i have heard/read that he is in a much better place atm and has things back on track

Wouldnt even be opposed to this. could actually find the ball. was a strong as any 1 over the ball. should neve have been delisted. any 1 know where he is atm?

ha bentick will never come back, since leaving the blues he has been playing with port melbourne and could be their captain? didnt see him on the weekend in their win over the bullants but of the games i did see him play this year he just did those classic bentick things - hard at it clearance work. sure there were all those questions over his pace and disposal, but then we got rid of him and got brock instead? much of a muchness?? haha i mentioned bentick jokingly as i know some on the board (Five) loved him while others definitely didnt mind parting ways with him

havent seen much of sewell play but his accomplishments are impressive, he is still 23 and has won the liston and club b&fs with ballarat. there was some talk gws might be interested in him?? is supposedly an inside mid who can also play a run with role tho

now that ratten has questioned the tactics applied to judd,
would seem that his now looking for someone to help that chop out with judd and apply pressure and blocks to judd's tagger

just amazing me when you look past the last 4 weeks, the taggers at most times dont contest to the ball and focus soley in standing infront of judd and have there arms spread out so judd does not come into play

need someone to help judd, whether carrazzo, robinson or curnow can do that or blues go for a player of luke ball, jude bolton, sewell type player

Darren Pfieffer :o

Been throwing his body around the stoppages like a maniac this year.....do we have a don't re-draft policy?

I'm half joking but have enjoyed watching his improvement this year, credits to him

Armfield. Strong as an ox, almost as hard as Robinson, will go in and get the ball. If the aim is to move it forward, I'd be happy with him. Have been surprised at his development this season.
