Today was brilliant. It was the best output of intensity that I have seen for many a game.

Tackles here, players diving in left, right and centre.

Sensational :thumbsu:

It was one aspect that was glaringly missing from last week - hence my comments of selfish, arrogant, undisciplined rubbish at the time.

Today was the complete opposite - players spoiling to spots, clearing space, making shepherds, chasing down and tackling, holding the ball in the forward line, etc, etc. This was a fantastic team effort today, full of 1%ers.

All that shows is how much football is actually played between the ears these days. Today we were mentally switched on in all respects, while last week we looked mentally flat.

As a result the comparison between our two games this year is like chalk and cheese.

Do not underestimate the inclusion of Matthew Bode. He is THE king of 1%ers at this club and those sort of things can inspire others to do the same. It just spreads through the team like a disease.

GREAT effort today by the boys. This is how we MUST play to win. Its our trademark. Its what makes us good.

Agreed 100% :thumbsu: . How good was he when he bowled over Aker and won that contested ball that set up a goal. Outstanding :thumbsu:

As the game went on I realised that we were looking eerily like that "invincible" side of last year. It shows how good we can be, now we've got to be consistent. Again it's only a single game.

Intensity was fantastic. Some players in particular seemed to jump at shadows (Cooney). Turn overs kill teams, and with the pressure we applied we forced them to turn it over many a times.

However - set shots for goal is a pressure situation we still have to improve. We were luck we wer'nt hurt too much from the point rebound.

I thought of you while watching the game... you were spot on

And what about Bocks toe poke 1% to Welsh... magic :thumbsu:

Exactly right. He was left out last week for allegedly poor form for Glenelg but his role isn't based on form at all, just commitment to defensive pressure and the little things that all footballers should do but generally don't. If he went back to the Bays tomorrow he wouldn't be doing that role and his "form" would probably still be poor.

Reminds me of that little terrier dog in the International Rules game a few years back that ran under everyone's feet chasing the ball.

I loved the way they kept the intensity up for four quarters. Also the fact they we didn't have one passenger. All players were out their with the same objective. Magnificent.
Whilst any win in Melbourne is great (especially when you live here) I would rate that as probably our best and most satisfying win here since Carlton at Optus in 2001. No one over here gave a chance. Then Burton pulled out and then losing Stiffy and The New Brunette during the game and to still come out winners.
