6 or so per quarter should be plenty to give coaches some leaway and still keep it within it's original intent.

i'm not so sure about this one. the game today is incredibly hard on the body, limiting the IC bench won't help that.

i honestly think that the sort of gameplan the swans play will not stand the test of time. the eagles had plenty of opportunity to nail them (compare the inside-50s), and if they had have done it, the flood would be dead and beried.

I say stuff the coaches, their desire to find new ways to win has too much influence on the evolution of the game. Because of this, teams competing for premierships will ensure that they don't have a forward line as poor as West Coast's this year. West Coast's forward line was probably the worst of the finals teams this year, and they got shown up by the flood.

A lot of the injuries nowadays occur because the pace of the game has increased thanks to the interchange bench.
You also get a lot of contests between players that are tired, usually the better players that have been on the whole game and fresh players. Usually the not so good players that have had a lot of time on the bench.
Limiting the interchange bench usage would lessen that and thus protect the better players one would think.

If coaches had their way they would have a Grid Iron type bench where the whole squad could be used depending on whether they are attacking or defending, including time outs to make changes.
Anything that would help them win games and not necessarily what is good for the game.

I will agree to a certain extent. WC had ??? all year over their forward lines...no Robert Walls you were wrong threads is there?

I think the IC Bench should be reduced as should the number of players on the field.
